Have you gotten on the social media bandwagon? How about Twitter Chats?! I\u2019m thinking the percentage of those who answered \u201cyes\u201d to my second question may be less than the first! But don\u2019t stress\u2014 I\u2019m here to help you take that leap and fully engage in a Twitter Chat. And hey, guess what? (Another rhetorical question.) I\u2019ve got just what you need\u2026 Our OK2Ask Team will be hosting a chat next week! So, buckle up, read on, and take the Twitter Chat leap!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avid social media use can truly transform professional development. You have shared resources, built in collaboration, and a network of subject area experts at your fingertips! I know participating in a Twitter chat can be overwhelming and intimidating, so I\u2019ve come up with a list of steps to get you started!<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Make sure you have a Twitter account.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t, I would make your Twitter handle (user name) as professional as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Find a chat.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you find a chat you are interested in, and we hope it\u2019s our (insert shameless plug)<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SFLOK2Ask\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OK2Ask Twitter Chat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, log onto Twitter on the date and time of the chat.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Know your hashtag.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All chats will have a hashtag (#) that they use so that participants will see the questions and responses. For example, our hashtag is #OK2Ask. If you type that into the Twitter search bar, you will see all tweets marked with that hashtag.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Join the conversation.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is by far the scariest step! \u00a0When you\u2019re ready, you can either click on the reply icon directly below the question tweet (all questions are abbreviated in the form of Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.) or compose your own new tweet to answer. \u00a0All answers should be in a corresponding format to the questions (i.e.,\/ A1 is the reply to Q1, A2 is the reply to Q2, and so on and so forth.). And don\u2019t forget to include the hashtag (#), because otherwise, no one else will see your answer!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Reply to, retweet, or like others\u2019 responses.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to show someone that you agree with or like their response, you have a couple of options. Below their tweet, you can click one of 3 icons: reply, retweet, or like. If it\u2019s your first chat, I\u2019d simply start out with the \u201clike\u201d (heart) feature, because it\u2019s quick and easy!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s take a look at an example from a recent #OK2Ask Chat:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Q7: In this article (https:\/\/bit.ly\/2LJU2nM), EdTech links the 4Cs to technology to create a \u201cconnected classroom\u201d. \u00a0How do you work to create a connected classroom? #OK2Ask<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A7: I think an important step is to create a digital, \u201calways\u201d learning space for your students. Somewhere the learning doesn\u2019t have to stop when outside the classroom walls. What tools\/spaces do you all use for this?! #OK2Ask<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, I hope you find my little tutorial helpful!
