So what do you do? Take a virtual visit, of course! If you read<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/teachersfirst.com\/blog\/2019\/03\/whats-the-buzz-virtual-field-trips\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ruth Okoye\u2019s recent blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on virtual field trips you already have lots of ideas with places to visit and how to make the most of a virtual field trip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s take Ruth\u2019s ideas a step further with additional suggestions for expanding learning through virtual museum visits. But first, here are some <\/span><b>more ideas for virtual museum visits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that might be new to you:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.monet2010.com\/en#\/voyage\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exhibition Monet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=12343\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TeachersFirst review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) &#8211; this charming adventure guides learners through 12 different Monet works of arts. Visit the museum to hear sounds made by older technology and electronic equipment. How many do you remember? Old enough to remember the default sound for AOL Instant Messenger? How about TV snow? This museum may show your age but is a great way to demonstrate to students the many changes in technology in the not-so-recent past.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/microsites.jfklibrary.org\/presidentsdesk\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The President\u2019s Desk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=15138\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TeachersFirst review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) &#8211; dig around President Kennedy\u2019s Oval Office in this interactive from the JFK Library. Click on items on the desk to explore events from JFK\u2019s past.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Need more ideas for finding virtual museum trips?<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/padlet.com\/bellew\/19stmeyaxb8x\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Padlet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> includes several ideas for visits including trips to Italy, planets, an aquarium, and more. Take a look at this<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.symbaloo.com\/mix\/virtualfieldtrips12\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symbaloo webmix<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to find even more ideas for elementary and middle school students to visit Stonehenge, Carlsbad Caverns, the Titanic, and other interesting places.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Ruth mentioned in her blog, it is vital to <\/span><b>keep the focus on student learning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Let\u2019s take a look at some ideas on making the most of a virtual trip from start to finish:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you visit a real museum you need a ticket; there\u2019s no reason not to have a ticket for a virtual visit too. Use the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.faketicketgenerator.com\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fake Concert Ticket Generator<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=16058\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TeachersFirst review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) to make tickets for students in advance of your visit. Distribute tickets about a week in advance of the visit to build excitement and enthusiasm for your visit.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask students to think about their visit in advance. Discuss questions such as what do you think you\u2019ll see? Think about the physical location of the museum visit (if there is one). Ask students to use the street view of Google Maps to take a virtual look of the area. Another option is to play a Jeopardy game <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your visit as a pre-assessment activity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have older students share their learning by creating a<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/learningpaths.symbaloo.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Symbaloo Learning Paths<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=17347\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TeachersFirst review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) for their classmates. Use this site to create an interactive learning experience that includes videos, links to virtual visits, quizzes, and more.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let students share their learning through the eyes of a reporter. Ask them to put themselves in the time and place featured in your virtual visit and tell the story as a reporter. Have students use<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studios.amazon.com\/storybuilder\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amazon Storybuilder<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=15423\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TeachersFirst review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) to create and build a professional-level report to share on your class website.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many museums all over the world offer virtual visits. These are an excellent resource for sharing art, relics, and documents from different eras and locations.
