Over <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/about\/history-of-the-library\/timeline\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">time<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, its mission expanded, allowing it to be viewed as a national institution and, therefore, the national library. The current building was completed and opened to the public in<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/babel.hathitrust.org\/cgi\/pt?id=ufl1.ark:\/13960\/t70v9mj87&amp;view=1up&amp;seq=2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1897<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Since then, the library&#8217;s offerings and resources have greatly expanded to the Library of Congress that we know today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today&#8217;s Library of Congress offers a wealth of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/education\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">educational resources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, many of which are available from our own homes. Whether you\u2019re looking for resources about<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/read.gov\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reading<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/poetry\/180\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">poetry<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/item\/today-in-history\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">history<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/everyday-mysteries\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">science<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/lcm\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something else<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Library of Congress has you covered.<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/engage\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interacting<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the Library remotely has never been easier:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are several<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.loc.gov\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blogs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about an enormous variety of topics available that you can subscribe to.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have a question and can&#8217;t find the answer or are having difficulty with your research, a librarian can help through the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/rr\/askalib\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask A Librarian<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> feature.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can even <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/crowd.loc.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">virtually volunteer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to assist the Library by transcribing, reviewing, and tagging Library of Congress documents.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Library of Congress also offers many resources designed exclusively for<a href=\"http:\/\/teachersfirst.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2020-APR-Celebrating-220-Years-LOC.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3604\" src=\"http:\/\/teachersfirst.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2020-APR-Celebrating-220-Years-LOC-200x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachersfirst.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2020-APR-Celebrating-220-Years-LOC-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/teachersfirst.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2020-APR-Celebrating-220-Years-LOC-683x1024.png 683w, https:\/\/teachersfirst.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2020-APR-Celebrating-220-Years-LOC.png 735w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/teachers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">teachers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Library also offers an array of ready-made<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/teachers\/classroommaterials\/lessons\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lesson plans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on a variety of historical and cultural topics.
