This is a<a href=\"https:\/\/21cif.com\/rkitp\/curriculum\/v1n5\/v1n5_wiki_how-to.html\"> question<\/a> that falls under the wide umbrella of <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/full\/10.1177\/2056305120937309\">media literacy<\/a>. In 2020, with the proliferation of fake news <a href=\"https:\/\/xqsuperschool.org\/blog\/why-is-media-literacy-important-especially-in-the-wake-of-covid-19\/\">in the wake of the pandemic<\/a>, the importance of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-05-14\/how-disinformation-has-morphed-for-the-2020-election-quicktake\">upcoming election<\/a>, and the increasing reliance on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/academy\/en\/collections\/fake-news\">internet\/ social media for news<\/a>,&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/namle.net\/publications\/media-literacy-definitions\/\">the concept of media literacy<\/a> is more important than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/teachersfirst.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-SEP-Media-Literacy-in-2020-200x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachersfirst.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-SEP-Media-Literacy-in-2020-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/teachersfirst.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-SEP-Media-Literacy-in-2020-683x1024.png 683w, https:\/\/teachersfirst.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-SEP-Media-Literacy-in-2020.png 735w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/namle.net\/publications\/core-principles\/\">Media literacy<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaeducationlab.com\/curriculum\/materials\">resources<\/a> for teachers are available from a wide variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iste.org\/explore\/Digital-and-media-literacy\/10-resources-to-boost-student-media-literacy\">organizations<\/a> for every <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nea.org\/tools\/lessons\/73933.htm\">age\/ grade level<\/a> and in different <a href=\"https:\/\/frankwbaker.com\/mlc\/resources-media-literacy\/\">languages<\/a>. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectlooksharp.org\/our-approach.php\">key<\/a> to choosing what is right for your class is to make sure it is <a href=\"https:\/\/action4mediaeducation.org\/resources\/for-educators\/\">relevant<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prodigygame.com\/main-en\/blog\/teaching-media-literacy\">engaging<\/a>! This may mean tailoring the lesson to your students&#8217; grade level or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/08\/learning\/lesson-plans\/over-100-lesson-plans-based-on-new-york-times-articles.html\">current events<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanpressinstitute.org\/fact-checking-project\/factually-newsletter\/factually-games-to-teach-media-literacy\/\">gamifying<\/a> the experience, using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/learn\/10-creative-methods-to-teach-media-literacy\/\">specific tool<\/a>, or just finding a way to make it <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaeducationlab.com\/curriculum\/materials\">fun and interesting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you are looking for resources for teaching a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.org\/education\/news-media-literacy-resource-center\">media literacy skills<\/a> or want to focus on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamesforchange.org\/studentchallenge\/la\/news-literacy\/\">news literacy<\/a>, there are many resources available. <a href=\"https:\/\/newslit.org\/educators\/checkology\/\">Checkology<\/a> is an all-inclusive online platform for teaching media literacy in grades 5-12 that contains everything from lesson plans to live discussions with journalists and the integration of real-world news\/information. Teaching Tolerance offers lessons for all grades from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolerance.org\/classroom-resources\/tolerance-lessons\/advertisements-and-you\">K-2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolerance.org\/classroom-resources\/tolerance-lessons\/sensible-consumers\">3-5<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolerance.org\/classroom-resources\/tolerance-lessons\/analyzing-how-words-communicate-bias\">6-8<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tolerance.org\/classroom-resources\/tolerance-lessons\/news-consumers-bill-of-rights-and-responsibilities\">9-12<\/a>.
