No one yet knows what this school year will bring. The past two years have looked very different from normal. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/knowledgequest.aasl.org\/summer-planning-assessing-the-school-library-facility\/\" target=\"_blank\">Planning<\/a> can <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/knowledgequest.aasl.org\/making-this-summer-about-you-self-care-for-school-librarians\/\" target=\"_blank\">re-energize you<\/a> and your school library! Whether you use a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stayingcoolinthelibrary.us\/back-to-school-checklist-for-school-librarians\" target=\"_blank\">checklist<\/a> to stay on task with planning or prefer a less formal <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ideas.demco.com\/blog\/school-libraries-your-planning-guide-for-reopening\/\" target=\"_blank\">planning process<\/a>, having a plan is always better than no plan at all. A new school year is a great time to think about your school library&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifla.org\/files\/assets\/school-libraries-resource-centers\/publications\/ifla_school_manifesto_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vision and mission<\/a>.  Come up with a <a href=\"https:\/\/brandongaille.com\/list-37-catchy-library-slogans-and-taglines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">catchy slogan or theme <\/a>to guide your planning and keep the school library program visual in your school community.  Prepare a <a href=\"https:\/\/read.bookcreator.com\/mvPgY7WlzpZ0iB6KWCYbUdmFdOo2\/zof__W_6TkqPC3_OosSI-g?fbclid=IwAR1qfhBBO3u6V64OgIPjcKDPGLFJM2nBeHyb9teSZP5WNUta3RwZ3RDBQxI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">welcome document<\/a> to share with students, teachers, administration, and families. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedaringlibrarian.com\/2018\/09\/back-to-school-with-bitmoji.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Personalize<\/a> your signage and sites with Bitmojis! Plan your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goalexandria.com\/back-to-school-library-displays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">library displays<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.demco.com\/tag\/activity-calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">celebrations<\/a>! Reach out to teachers early for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stayingcoolinthelibrary.us\/6-tips-for-teacherlibrarian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">collaboration opportunities<\/a>. Finally, decide which new <a href=\"https:\/\/read.bookcreator.com\/mvPgY7WlzpZ0iB6KWCYbUdmFdOo2\/csMtTr4PTQCk-jfc8U6ygQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tools<\/a> you will use to bring your library vision to life!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plan to bring new life to your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/aasl\/sites\/ala.org.aasl\/files\/content\/advocacy\/events\/SLM19_Activity_Ideas2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lessons<\/a>! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stayingcoolinthelibrary.us\/backtoschoolreadalouds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read-alouds<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readerpants.net\/2012\/08\/fun-ideas-for-library-orientation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">orientation<\/a> activities are always a great way to start the new year. Bring <a href=\"http:\/\/tinkeringchild.com\/wellbeing-and-mindfulness-in-a-school-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mindfulness<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifla.org\/node\/10132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">meditation<\/a> into your school library and <a href=\"https:\/\/uknowledge.uky.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=1289&amp;context=libraries_facpub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">your own life<\/a>, as we all need some peace of mind after the last two school years. Create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.literacyideas.com\/reading-activities-for-any-book\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">engaging reading activities<\/a> for a variety of books\u2014plan interesting and fun <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readerpants.net\/2016\/12\/feeling-frazzled-15-ideas-for-hig.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">library centers<\/a>.  Create\/ reuse\/ remix <a href=\"https:\/\/librarylearners.com\/free-library-lesson-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lessons<\/a> that will engage your students and energize your teaching on everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.copyrightandcreativity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">copyright<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/tools\/readytocode\/resource-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coding<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slj.com\/?detailStory=eight-project-based-learning-activities-for-your-school-library\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project-based learning<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Planning for the new school year is an activity-filled with brand-new possibilities!
