According to <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/future-focused-learning\/what-is-a-global-digital-citizen-and-why-does-the-world-need-them-8b94ace7803\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lee Watanabe-Crockett<\/a>, &#8220;A Global Digital Citizen is a responsible, ethical citizen, leveraging technology to foster community on a global scale through connection and compassion.&#8221; Global digital citizenship embodies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solutiontree.com\/blog\/global-digital-citizen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">5 tenets<\/a>: personal responsibility, global citizenship, digital citizenship, altruistic service, and environmental stewardship. The internet has amazing potential to support these concepts, but it also has a cautionary side. The Global Digital Citizenship Foundation offers a very comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gcedclearinghouse.org\/sites\/default\/files\/resources\/180102eng.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quick start guide<\/a>. There are books like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readpbn.com\/pdf\/Growing-Global-Digital-Citizens-Better-Practices-That-Build-Better-Learners-Sample-Pages.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Growing Global Digital Citizens<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/vkpuQtPpdDs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">videos<\/a>, and even toolkits like <a href=\"https:\/\/toolkit.8020.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beyond the Click<\/a>. There are also a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.createwebquest.com\/digital-citizenship-vs-global-citizenship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lesson<\/a> materials and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penpalschools.com\/how-to-teach-digital-citizenship-through-global-connections.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">projects<\/a> you can modify or use as-is in your classroom, from <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.futurefocusedlearning.net\/teaching-global-digital-citizenship-10-essential-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">essential questions<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/quizlet.com\/54468081\/global-digital-citizenship-flash-cards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flash cards<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowledge Quest offers <a href=\"https:\/\/files.eric.ed.gov\/fulltext\/EJ1171701.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this resource<\/a> to help school librarians cultivate global digital citizens in their schools. Classroom teachers and school librarians can team up to offer <a href=\"https:\/\/learninginhand.com\/blog\/pblideas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project-based learning experiences<\/a> that teach global digital citizenship! The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digcitinstitute.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Citizenship Institute<\/a> offers resources everyone can use to transform the culture at their school and assist in the journey from digital citizenship to global digital citizenship.
