The event aims to recognize the many opportunities online learning offers for all individuals. Students often participate in learning opportunities as time permits within their schedule. Providing flexibility allows students to feel in control of their education and balance classroom requirements with family and extra-curricular obligations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Online learning often provides opportunities for personalization of content delivery and materials. This personalization offers increased opportunities to complete the learning activities successfully and enhances the learning experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learning online is available through many different tools and strategies. Many resources provide complete courses, while others offer single lessons. Educators provide online learning opportunities using teaching strategies, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=19736\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flipped and blended lessons<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=19492\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hyperdocs<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=19596\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">choice boards.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Try these Online Learning Resources:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SplashLearn<\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=18884\" target=\"_blank\">reviewed here<\/a>) &#8211; This tool is a game-based learning platform for K-5 students that includes math and reading activities. It is free for use in school and to assign as homework activities. SplashLearn adapts to students\u2019 learning needs through individualized learning paths that offer opportunities to explore and learn in safe spaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Monterey Bay Aquarium<\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=3679\" target=\"_blank\">reviewed here<\/a>) &#8211; This California institution offers many free on-demand courses for grades preK-12 in the educators&#8217; section; most are available in English and Spanish. Topics include lessons on sea otters, sharks, tide pools, the extreme sea, and more.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ted-Ed<\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=13784\" target=\"_blank\">reviewed here<\/a>) &#8211; This resource provides engaging lessons for all grade levels and topics. Each activity includes a short video, quiz, discussion questions, and the ability to personalize the content by adding your own activities and materials. TED-Ed offers powerful tools for creating and sharing lessons aligned with your curriculum and learning activities based on student&#8217;s interests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Code.org<\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/single.cfm?id=16094\" target=\"_blank\">reviewed here<\/a>) &#8211; This organization shares many online learning activities that teach users to code. Visit the Hour of Code activities to find tutorials for students of all ages and content areas. Many of the activities are available in other languages.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/ok2ask\/\" target=\"_blank\">TeachersFirst&#8217;s OK2Ask<\/a> &#8211; These free, hands-on, virtual professional learning workshops offer educators of all grade levels opportunities. Professional learning certificates are available for those who participate fully and complete our comprehension checkpoints. TeachersFirst has provided online learning to thousands of educators annually for over a decade. Visit the OK2Ask information page to access upcoming virtual workshops and on-demand recordings of previous sessions.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Best practices must always be considered when sharing online learning opportunities with students. Consider how to manage students\u2019 learning, ways to promote positive student interactions, and provide clear communication of the process and learning objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some <strong>additional tips<\/strong> to consider as part of online learning activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be clear on expectations for completing lessons, such as due dates and required activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share tips with parents and caregivers on how to encourage students to study in quiet areas, set time aside to complete activities, and encourage taking breaks, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let students know how to ask for help when needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If necessary, provide tutorials for students (and caregivers) for use with online resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you or your students have a favorite online learning resource?
