Trends and Standards<\/a> <\/strong> from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/sourceforlearning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Source for Learning, Inc.<\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What are the ISTE standards for students?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/XojNVC\">Performance indicators for ISTE standards for students<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why use the ISTE Standards?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not just about changing the assignment, it is about a shift in teaching and pedagogy first.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What you <strong>know<\/strong> is the content standards, what you <strong>do<\/strong> is the ISTE standards. It is student centered &#8211; not one specific answer every student gives. What students do is important. It requires thoughtful planning using technology and allows for more productivity and differentiation. It is about the learning and not the tools. Keep in mind\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAMR (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Substitute &#8211; function is the same as not using technology,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augmentation &#8211; adds more function,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modification &#8211; task is modified and redesigned, and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redefinition- new tasks not possible before technology). We are aiming for Redefinition.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>1. Empowered Learner<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cStudent leverage technology to take an active role in the choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Setting personal learning goals<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What improvement so they want to make? <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goals, reminder, track progress using an app, reflection of work towards a goal. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow goals in google calendar on a mobile device<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have them connect a learning goal and extension to help them meet the goal (<a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/strict-workflow\/cgmnfnmlficgeijcalkgnnkigkefkbhd?hl=en\">Strict workflow<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/pamatov%C3%A1k\/jfiakckbklmccchjegnnojbalafebakb?hl=en\">Memorize!<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/easybib-toolbar\/hmffdimoneaieldiddcmajhbjijmnggi?hl=en-US\">Easybib<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blogging, feedback\/reflection<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a Google slide for a simple portfolio<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edutopia.org\/article\/6-reasons-try-single-point-rubric\">Single point rubrics<\/a> to get feedback on improvements and what is great.
