Chapter Twenty-Nine - Creative Writing Activity

It is unclear in this chapter whether Hogwarts will reopen next school year. Professor Flitwick notes that the professors will have to consult the governors. Different characters, including the Ministry of Magic, will have different views about whether to keep Hogwarts open next year.

Elementary School

Pretend you are one of the governors. Decide whether or not you think Hogwarts should reopen. Then, write a letter to Professor McGonagall discussing your decision. Be sure to list your reasons for making your decision.

Middle School

Rather than writing only one letter, write two letters to Professor McGonagall. Pretend to be two different governors. In one, discuss all the reasons why Hogwarts should remain open. In another, discuss all the reasons why Hogwarts should be closed.
