Creating graphic organizers also helps today's visual learners build reading comprehension. Not only is this a great resource for ESOL teachers, but some of the terms that are hyperlinked even have attached worksheets and graphic organizers attached to help other teachers incorporate the "term" into their teaching. Use this site as a resource for a picture walk in your classroom during a lesson on early Himalayan/Indian Culture. Select 10-15 of the most striking images from this site, print them, and hang them in designated areas around the classroom. Have students rotate through the pictures every 30-45 seconds, jotting down what they observe and infer. This activity works best if the selected images reflect different aspects of the culture, such as agriculture, class systems, and the economy.
