Add fraction bars or circles to your workspace and divide into up to 100 equal parts. Other options include text options including math symbols and drawing tools. At the time of this review the web app did not appear to be working.The chrome app works.

Choose any topic you're teaching and have students generate three "wonder questions." Invite them to share one with a partner, then select a few to guide class discussion. Give students small index cards and have them write or draw one thing they are grateful for that day. They should say something specific, not general (for example, "My friend helped me understand fractions" instead of "my friends"). Collect the cards and create a class gratitude wall. Set up three short challenge stations (puzzles, STEM building tasks, brainteasers). Have students rotate through each one and practice using perseverance strategies, such as breaking a task into smaller steps or trying a new approach. Afterward, they can reflect on which strategy helped them the most and how they can apply it in academic tasks.

This tool is ideal for art, geometry, and symmetry lessons, as it allows students to explore rotational symmetry, patterns, and design concepts in a fun and hands-on way. It's ideal for classrooms with limited supplies or those incorporating digital learning activities. To "cut" the paper away, draw polygons (closed shapes) representing scissor cuts over the triangle on the drawing board to the right. Draw a polygon by clicking on the board to create vertices, and close the polygon by clicking on the first vertex. Teachers can integrate it into math lessons on fractions, symmetry, and transformations, or use it as a creative winter-themed activity. After a video on a topic like multiplication, assign a group challenge. For example, students can solve multi-step problems collaboratively or compete in a "math relay." Set up math stations around the classroom, each focused on a skill featured in a video (ex., addition, fractions). At one station, students can rewatch the video or complete a related digital quiz. After watching a video, students create a journal entry summarizing the concept. They can include drawings, diagrams, or step-by-step problem-solving examples. In this game, players estimate the percentage of a gray bar that has been shaded green, with their score reflecting the accuracy of their guesses--the closer the estimate to the actual percentage, the better the score. After ten rounds, a final score is presented, encouraging improvement in estimation abilities.

In the Classroom

Students could create a short video summarizing a book they've read; this engages them by encouraging creative expression and storytelling skills. Use Padlet, reviewed here for students to create and share videos. Have students view each other's videos, then discuss the variety of perspectives and styles, deepening their understanding of storytelling. Assign students a historical figure to research, then have them create a short "video diary" as that person during a key event. Students can create short videos explaining a science topic, like the water cycle or photosynthesis. In small groups, students create short videos demonstrating how to solve a math problem or explain a concept, like fractions or basic geometry.

The free math apps offer student practice in many math concepts, including measurement, fractions, and number sense. Choose the Home Learning link to access the Math at Home website. Math at Home includes math activities, games, and practice pages organized by grade levels.

In the Classroom

Even if you don't use the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum, this site provides many supports for any math curriculum. Include the math apps as part of a math center or include them in your shared resources for math practice. Use a bookmarking tool like Symbaloo, reviewed here, to share all of your math practice sites with students on your classroom computers and devices. Take advantage of the daily math activities to share open-ended math problems with students using Gravity, reviewed here. Display the problem on Gravity, and ask students to create a video sharing their response and problem-solving technique. Use the math activities to differentiate students' activities, use ideas from upper grades to challenge students, or help struggling students reinforce previous concepts by choosing ideas from lower grade levels.

Fractions is an app that is available online or for download from iTunes and Chrome. Use the app to explore and investigate fractions using the different available options. Add fraction bars or circles to your workspace and divide into up to 100 equal parts. Other options include text options including math symbols and drawing tools. At the time of this review the web app did not appear to be working.The chrome app works.
