The Collections section of the Library of Congress offers access to one of the largest and most diverse cultural repositories in the world, with well over 170 million items in hundreds of languages and in nearly every format, including books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, film and audio recordings, newspapers, drawings, and sheet music. The site serves as a research gateway where users can browse by subject, format, or historical period, and many of the collections, especially the digital ones, include tools and finding aids to help teachers, students, and researchers locate and interpret primary sources. Whether you are studying American history, world cultures, literature, government documents, art, or media, the Library of Congress Collections provide versatile and reliable materials that can support classroom learning, research projects, and personal exploration.
