This kid-friendly site takes a very unique look at the life and times of worms. Students can read about the migration of worms from Europe to American against the backdrop of colonial American history (and you thought the Mayflower carried only pilgrims!), and compare their own family tree with that of Herman's. The site also includes instructions for creating and maintaining a worm bin in the classroom, and great information on worm taxonomy, anatomy, and food preferences. Check out the interactive worm activities and games, as well as the helpful hints in the Teacher's Bin. Also available in Spanish.

In the Classroom
Have students try out this site on individual computers, or as a learning center. Encourage students to look at all part of the website, and then participate in the drawing entries! Students from all over the country have drawn pictures of worms and their habitats, sent them in, and they are now displayed on the website. Students motivated by having their art "published" could produce some very interesting work! You must be registered and logged in to add items to your favorites.
