Quickly create infographics as a schema activator or lesson introduction by typing in the topic of your lesson. Discuss the information shared on the infographic and ask students to share additional ideas that support their current understanding of the content. Share the infographic creator with students to include with multimedia presentations, book reports, or oral presentations. Students can create infographics about a classroom topic, relationships, definitions of significant terms, lab information, and more. If you use literature circles in your classroom, making an Infographic about a novel the group read would be a great conclusion for the lit circle project. It might also entice others in the class to read the novel. Post the infographics on your web page for all your students and parents to enjoy. To challenge your gifted students, have them research and create infographics depicting the challenging issues or "flipsides" related to your curriculum topic. Here are some suggestions: Major court cases and matters involving freedom of speech (during your Constitution unit), risks and benefits of nuclear power (in a physics class).

The Mind Map Generator quickly creates mindmaps from your prompt using artificial intelligence (AI) without requiring registration. Describe an idea or topic in the chat box, then click the arrow to continue. Information is produced in a flow chart that includes colored labels. The chart offers options to edit your mind map's style and content and look by clicking each card containing information. Additional features allow you to "ask AI" to add supplemental content such as maps and images. When finished, use the provided links to export your mind map to the web as a PNG file, generate a link for others to access and edit the information, and publish it as a web page.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (156), mind map (28)

In the Classroom

Although the interface for this mind map tool appears to be very simple, it offers many opportunities to create and share complex results. Begin by making simple mind maps such as themes found in novels your class reads or features of a state you study. After creating a mind map, ask this tool to build a visual story, for example, of the events leading up to the Civil War, then use the presentation feature to share and view with your students. As you become more familiar with the available features, modify the mind maps created to produce a personalized visual representation that fits your needs and includes links to additional information. Use the chat feature to make images and maps to supplement students' learning. Share mind maps you create as you begin a new unit as a helpful visual tool for students to understand the different components to recognize in your studies. Extend learning by developing a simple mind map of your topic and sharing it with students. Ask students to contribute information to the mind map that correlates to the information already included. Because this tool contains many features, it might be helpful to ask tech-savvy students to create video tutorials sharing how to use and modify the mind maps created. For example, make videos using the AI chat feature to produce images and maps or share a tutorial on adding links to portions of your mind map.

In the Classroom

Take advantage of this visual resource creator to create and share timelines in advance and on the fly that engage students for many classroom uses and content. For example, create a timeline of events in a novel or historical event, use a timeline to show steps in a progression of events such as turning a bill into law, or create a timeline that shows historic events in your hometown. Ask students to create a timeline using this generator and include a link or the image in a multimedia presentation created with Genially, reviewed here or Canva Edu, reviewed here. Use the quadrant tool to support student understanding of complex issues or generate mindmaps to break content down into smaller, more manageable information.

Designer uses artificial intelligence (AI) to produce images, posters, banners, greeting cards, and much more from your text. If you don't have a Microsoft account, you will be prompted to create one. Add your text to the chat box using as much descriptive language as possible. After selecting enter, Designer produces four images that match your request. Select any image, edit your prompt, or regenerate based on the original text to view more options. After selecting an image, download it to your device, save it to Bing, or use the option to customize the image with the edit button.

ElevenLabs converts text to speech and provides many choices for voices used in the output. Although creating an account isn't required, it offers users more characters to convert text to speech. After signing in to your account, use the provided options to select a voice for output and adjust voice settings that include stability, clarity, and exaggeration. Each voice preview consists of a short description with suggestions for use, such as children's stories or narration. An additional option lets users generate custom voices using tools to adjust for age, type of accent, and strength of accent. When ready, type or paste text in one of up to 29 included languages to convert to speech; ElevenLabs recommends using longer text passages for better conversion to audio. Click generate to create and listen to your audio. Use the download link to save your audio as an MP3 file to your device. The free plan offers up to 10,000 characters monthly, up to three custom voices, and speech generation in 29 languages.

In the Classroom

Research shows that text-to-speech technology helps students focus more on content than reading, resulting in a better understanding of the reading material. Share a link to ElevenLabs with students, then demonstrate how to use this tool to listen to audio of a text to increase comprehension. Engage students in learning new content using ElevenLabs to introduce short introductory paragraphs from upcoming novels, textbook chapters, or primary source documents. Enhance learning and understanding of foreign languages by listening to the text in several different voices.

In the Classroom

Use Firefly to create images for many different classroom uses to engage students and extend learning. Use the text effects feature to create text to teach letters or words. An example would be making the word "apple" and filling it with apples to teach beginning letter sounds to students using imagery. Use the text-to-image feature to create images for students to use with creative writing projects or to visualize a scene in a story. Edit images using the Generative Fill option to remove unwanted items or add new items. Edit an image to demonstrate different art styles when teaching students about artists. Download your edited images for students to use when making ebooks with Book Creator, reviewed here or to use when publishing writing using a simple website creator such as Telegra.ph, reviewed here.
