Google Opal is an experimental tool from Google Labs that lets you build, edit, and share AI-powered mini-apps using simple natural language rather than traditional coding. Teachers can use Opal to quickly create interactive tools, workflows, or classroom resources by describing what they want and then refining them in a visual editor. The platform handles the technical aspects such as hosting and deployment, making it accessible for beginners while still offering flexibility for more advanced users. This makes Opal a useful resource for educators interested in introducing students to AI concepts, problem-solving, and creative digital design without requiring programming experience.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (328), Teacher Utilities (219)

In the Classroom

Have students describe a simple classroom tool they wish existed (e.g., a quiz generator, a vocabulary helper, a story prompt machine). Using Opal, they can turn their idea into a working AI mini-app, then present how it works and why it's useful. Students can design an AI-powered story generator that changes characters, setting, or conflict based on user input. In groups, have students build subject-specific review apps (reading comprehension quizzes, science concept checkers, social studies trivia).

BingWow is a free online tool that lets teachers quickly create custom bingo games using AI, making it a fast way to generate ready-to-use activities. Enter a title, choose a card size (small, medium, or large), and select a tone (playful, balanced, or realistic); the AI then generates the bingo content based on your input. You can choose between a standard clue set, where all players have the same clues in different positions, or a wildcard option that creates some unique clues on each board to vary gameplay. After generating a set, each square is editable, allowing you to add images and refine the content before use. The site also includes premade bingo sets organized into categories such as education, holidays, and kids, available directly at the bottom of the homepage. No sign-in is required, and there are no ads, which makes access quick and simple. Users may still need to review and adjust AI-generated clues for accuracy or alignment with learning goals, and customization is limited to editing individual squares rather than changing broader game settings.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (328), game based learning (311), printables (35), worksheets (71)

In the Classroom

BingWow makes it easy to turn any topic into an engaging review game that involves little or no prep time, is free, and has no two cards alike. Start with the basics: enter weekly vocabulary words to generate bingo cards, then call out definitions instead of the words so students must recall the meanings before marking their cards. Create cards with multiplication facts, fractions, or decimals, call out a problem, and have students find the correct answer. Enhance learning by using BingWow during read-alouds or video lessons by loading cards with terms students are likely to encounter, and turn passive viewing into active listening. Extend learning by challenging students to design their own bingo sets tied to a research project, current unit, or independent reading book. Students curate the clues, which requires them to identify key concepts and think critically about what matters most. They can then generate cards through BingWow and lead the class in a live review game.
This resource requires PDF reader software like Adobe Acrobat.

AudioPen helps turn your spoken thoughts into organized notes and ideas. The concept behind AudioPen is simple: turn on the microphone and start talking without worrying about organization, grammar, or coherence. After completing a recording, AudioPen uses AI to process your speech and generate a cleaned-up text version organized into readable paragraphs, along with a transcript of the original recording. Visit the settings menu before recording to adjust the input and output languages and customize how your notes are formatted. When finished, copy the generated text to your clipboard for use in emails, documents, lesson plans, or other projects. Depending on your account level, you may also be able to download audio recordings and organize saved notes for future reference. A free plan is available and allows users to create recordings up to three minutes long. The free version includes core transcription and note-cleanup features, while AudioPen Prime offers longer recordings, audio file uploads, advanced writing styles, expanded organization tools, and additional AI-powered features.

In the Classroom

Use AudioPen in several different classroom situations. Share this tool with students to use as an assistant with writing projects. Have students create recordings of what they want to include in their project without having to write or take notes, then use the text to organize their project. AudioPen is also a helpful tool for multilingual students. Adjust the settings to record their thoughts in their native language, then produce an organized set of ideas in English without transcribing from one language to another. Use AudioPen to assist with professional tasks such as organizing teaching units, writing grant proposals, or planning ideas to include with newsletters.

For example, ask Gamma to create a presentation introducing a new novel to students, including background information and vocabulary. Instead of creating a presentation, use Gamma to create an interactive website as a flipped learning activity and include links to online resources and assessments created with Microsoft Forms, reviewed here or embedded quizzes made with Blooket, reviewed here.
