Chapter Seventeen - Social Studies/Local Government Activity

In this chapter, Educational Decree Number Twenty Four disbands all student groups and activities. Students must seek Professor Umbridge's approval to reorganize their group. For this activity, research what you would have to do to begin a new organization or after-school activity at your school. Pick an organization that you think you and another group of students would be interested in. Find out who you would have to obtain approval from to meet after school. You might want to schedule a meeting with your principal, teacher, or another school administrator.

If you are not currently in school, write a plan to publicize your new group in your neighborhood or town. Would you write a newspaper ad? Would you send a newsletter through the mail? How could you get others to join your group.

Write a short description of your group/activity and how you would go about starting it.
