Summer break is almost here, but learning doesn't have to take a vacation! We've gathered a sunshine-filled collection of engaging resources to help your students stay sharp and prevent the summer slide. From interactive reading challenges and math games to outdoor science activities and creative writing prompts, these fun materials will keep students' minds active while still enjoying all the joys of summer. Parents and students alike will appreciate these easy-to-use resources that maintain academic skills without feeling like schoolwork!

Grades 6-12

STEM Bootcamps

Ideal for the summer months, Numerade's STEM Bootcamps provide free, interactive video lessons about STEM subjects like algebra, physics, and chemistry. The boot camps include step-by-step video tutorials, practice problems, and quizzes.

Grades K-8

Scholastic Summer Reading Home Base

From May 9 through September 12, this free, game-based digital platform provides a community for pre-K through eighth-grade readers. Sign up to read books and stories, attend author events, and play book-based games in a safe and moderated space.

Purdue University Kids STEM Degree

Engage students in earning STEM "degrees" through Purdue University! Access 10 video lessons and quizzes spanning K–8 grade bands that cover STEM essentials like seasons, fossils, and the environment. Complete all 10 for a grade-level certificate!

Camp BOOK IT!

Camp BOOK IT! is a summer home reading program in which students in grades K–6 earn pizza for achieving monthly reading goals. After enrolling in the program, parents use the digital dashboard to track their students' reading progress all summer.

PBS Kids

PBS Kids focuses mainly on educational activities and videos for preschool, Kindergarten, and primary-age students. Click on the blue All Games button to view games for math, art, music, science, Spanish, reading, engineering, and other topics.

SplashLearn

SplashLearn is a game-based math and ELA curriculum that offers personalized learning for students in grades pre-K–5. It includes general knowledge games, worksheets, decodable books, and more that incorporate science, social studies, and the arts.

BeeLine Reader Collection

Help all students (and adults!) improve reading and comprehension skills with the BeeLine Reader Collection. Find over 100 passages from stories as downloadable PDFs, all using BeeLine Reader technology to highlight and wrap text to improve focus.

Grades K-8

Whooo's Reading

Encourage students to practice reading comprehension skills this summer. After reading, students answer three quick higher-level questions that are automatically scored. Correct responses earn students coins they can spend on personalized "owlvatars."

Scholastic Home Base - Books

Discover books and games to keep students motivated to read over the summer. Select a book title from the Sneak Peek of the Week or Top Picks sections to begin reading an excerpt. Video trailers provide a short introduction to books found on the list.

ABCya

ABCya provides educational games, videos, and activities for pre-K–6 that cover nearly every subject. They’re also offered in Spanish. Sample activities include countless games in the core subjects, word clouds, pixel art, painting, and more.

Prodigy - Math and English Games

Use anime-style avatars to travel the world, meet wizards, and confront challenges. Designed specifically to help elementary-level students practice math and English, this cool tool can differentiate, assign, and review new skills.

Grades 3-8

Study Jams

Study Jams offers engaging instruction and review activities in math and science. Sample science topics include plants, volcanoes, the human body, the solar system, weather, and matter. Math topics include numbers, algebra, and problem-solving.

Zearn

Zearn Math is a complete math program that provides Common Core-aligned lessons based on Eureka Math and EngageNY Math that are personalized to individual learners. Lessons focus on three components: deep understanding, fluency, and problem-solving.

Bookopolis

Bookopolis is more than just an online social reading club for children ages 7–12. It has an education portal to track and review your reader's work and includes recommended books, popular books, and a book of the week on its homepage.
