Celebrate World Storytelling Day
Celebrate the ancient art of storytelling on March 20 with these audio tools that students and educators can use to share their stories!
Grades K-12
Vocaroo
Record a message and embed it into your favorite site or provide a link to share, no login or registration required! Recording the message is easy and embedding into a site or blog is quick. Have students record stories to share on your class site.
Grades K-12
Online Voice Recorder
Students can record stories from a device, clip as desired, and save. With no membership required, this is a free and simple recording treasure! Simply push the record button and follow screen prompts to allow the application access to your microphone.
Grades 2-12
Presentious
Create a presentation that tells your story with familiar PowerPoint slides and the commentary of a screencast. You can determine whether to see the presentation in the order it was created or browse slides and listen to only the portions you want.
Grades K-12
Acast
Use Acast’s unlimited hours of audio editing to start or convert a podcast. Tell your story on your own podcast website that updates automatically. Unlike other podcast programs, there are no limits to which podcast app you use.
Grades 6-12
Audacity
Share this free, open-source audio editor and recording tool. Use existing audio files or create new ones using your microphone. Have students use Audacity to share stories about their families, history, or culture.
Grades K-12
Boomy
Explain your story with sounds and a song! Boomy uses artificial intelligence to help you personalize and create original music, even if you have never made songs. Begin by selecting the option to create a song, then choose a style.
Grades 6-12
Soundcite
Students and educators can embed audio directly into chosen parts of the text for use on a blog or website. Use Soundcite to bring emotion or context to a story through an actual audio file. Be sure to check out the examples for ideas.
Grades 1-12
Spotify for Podcasters
Tell your story in a podcast on any device with Spotify for Podcasters. Add songs from Apple Music or Spotify, upload audio from your computer, or record your voice to create your podcast. Choose a name, then upload your content as a finished podcast.
Grades K-12
Speechnotes
Click on the microphone to begin speaking and sharing your story. This tool offers a distraction-free, easy-to-use speech-to-text notepad for use with Chrome browsers. Share this site with students who are good storytellers but not strong writers.
Grades K-12
Voxer
Use a combination of instant voice and text messages (including images and locations) to share a story with Voxer. Hear messages live or listen later. Broadcast messages to an individual or group, or listen and respond to chats.
