This site would be great for music, choral teachers, musical directors, or individual students hoping to improve their singing. Use the tutorial with students who are new to singing and group performance. The more students know and practice, the more comfortable they will be with their own abilities. Assign this link from your webpage or wiki so that students may access the lessons from home to practice in their own comfort zone. This would also be great if you are the adviser of a musical club or group. Guitar clubs could even benefit from this, as they could learn how to sing better along with their instruments. In science class, include this site in a unit on sound as you investigate how human anatomy creates and adjusts sounds in singing. You must be registered and logged in to add items to your favorites.

Test this site to be sure you can open it at school. Then turn up your speakers and open this site on a projector or -- even better -- interactive whiteboard to begin a music class, discuss key signatures, pitch, or instrumentation, and allow students to mix and remix their choice of sounds in harmonious blend. In science class, use the various sounds and an oscilloscope to teach about sound waves and the physical nature of sound. Challenge your musically gifted students to create a very simple version of this musical "machine" by recording and embedding videos of their own in a class music and technology wiki. Upload the videos to a school-friendly site such as SchoolTube, reviewed here or TeacherTube, reviewed here to avoid filtering issues. Set up a simpler face-to-face option by allowing student "conductors" to "turn on and off" multiple instruments and objects in your music classroom all playing the same pitch.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member

What a fabulous website to share the various instruments (and sounds) with students in your music class. Use an interactive whiteboard or projector, and turn up the volume! Click on the search/explore link at the bottom of the page to view a list of popular links in the site. Share the site on your teacher web page so students can visit again for a music "fix" with their families, especially since music classes are often so far apart.Comments
I think your website is wonderful. I teach Music Appreciation for middle school, and I have always had a difficult time finding things for my classes to do to keep them occupied. I plan on incorporating your website into my lessons. Thank you. Ray Rust Music TeacherRaymond, CA, Grades: 7 - 8
