They provide examples of how to teach required knowledge and skills from Kindergarten through Grade 8, as well as Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Algebra Functions and Data Analysis. Each grade level includes the standard along with a lesson or activity available as a Word document or PDF. These lessons outline the strand, topic, primary and related standards, materials, vocabulary, student and teacher actions, assessment ideas, extensions and connections, and strategies for differentiation.

Visiting Mount Rushmore National Memorial is typically out of reach for most classrooms; however, a virtual visit is accessible to all. This site includes links to exhibitions, videos, a panorama tour, a 3D explorer, and more. Visit the lesson plans section to find lessons for grades K-12 that include several content areas, including math, science, and visual arts. Use the provided links to download individual lessons in a zip file. Lessons include correlations to national teaching standards.

Numerade STEM Bootcamps provide free, interactive video lessons in STEM subjects like math, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics. The platform includes Bootcamps with step-by-step video tutorials, practice problems, and quizzes designed to enhance students' understanding. You can access a variety of topics for different grade levels and standardized tests like the ACT and SAT. The videos have captions available for students who may need them. Videos do have discussions under them, so be mindful of this if are having students use them independently.

In the Classroom

Flip your classroom and have students watch Numerade Bootcamp videos at home to learn foundational concepts before class. They then can apply their learning through in-class lessons. Have students create and take practice quizzes based on Numerade's standardized test prep Bootcamps using a program like Quizlet, reviewed here. This will engage them in active test prep, enhance recall through repeated practice, and extend readiness for exams. Have students summarize a Numerade bootcamp topic by creating short review videos with Padlet, reviewed here, helping their classmates understand key points from the videos. Be sure to include this site on your class web page so students can access it both in and outside of class for further practice. Have students create maps using Zeemaps, reviewed here, displaying information from roadside attractions found in Scale City. Plix (Play, Learn, Interact, and eXplore) shares over 1,000 interactives, providing practice and exploring math and science concepts. Math topics range from adding whole numbers to calculus concepts; science content includes biology, physics, earth, and life science, among others. Follow the directions found in each interactive to move the slider to show changes in each story problem or question. Plix integrates with several learning management systems, including Google Classroom, Schoology, and Canvas. Share Plix activities by creating a new class on the Plix site or assigning it to your learning management system.

In the Classroom

Use Plix interactives as warm-up activities when teaching new concepts, as a computer center activity, or as an exploration activity for homework. If you are not using a learning management system, use the three dots located on the top bar to find different share options and embed code to use on websites. Create a topic for students to add a video response that might include a demonstration of their computer screen as they discuss how the interactive works and share their understanding of the concept they explored.

This site shares step-by-step directions for making Mobius strip hearts. A Mobius strip is a one-sided surface with no boundaries that looks like an infinite loop and is also known as a twisted cylinder. A video tutorial on making Mobius strip hearts using paper, tape, and scissors is included. The tutorial also includes instructions on cutting the paper into strips and linking the Mobius strips together.

Include a Mobius strip heart activity during your Valentine's Day celebrations, or share the instructions and materials as part of maker-space activities. Extend learning by providing a finished Mobius strip heart, then ask students to problem-solve how to make the heart without any directions. Encourage students to share ideas on everyday uses of Mobius strips, such as conveyor belts, exercise bands, etc. Ask students to record tutorials for creating the Mobius strip heart activity and other Mobius strip creations, then share their tutorials and pictures in a multimedia book presentation created with Book Creator, reviewed here.
