Choose a character from the provided options; options include robots, superheroes, cartoon characters, and more. Next, click the background link to select a background image from the site, choose a color, or upload a photo from your device. The final customization option lets you size the video from several options tailored for social media. After making your selections, click Record to create an audio recording up to 2 minutes long. After the animation processes, download the final product as an MP4 file or open it in Adobe Creative Cloud Express, reviewed here to add filters, text, and additional animations. Registration isn't required to create and download your animations.

Spaces is a portfolio-creation tool that provides assessment opportunities and demonstrates student progress through three different types of Spaces. First, create a Class Space to share files and media and promote discussion for the whole class. Second, Group Spaces allow you to connect with groups created within the Class Space. Finally, Individual Spaces allow individual students and families to share learning products. Use the tools provided in Spaces to add tags to show progress or curate work products. Other options include the ability to assign activities on specific dates and to particular groups and individuals.

As discussed regarding the chart information, provide students with badges to demonstrate the different qualities shown on the chart. Find a multitude of reviewed tools, resources, and connections available via technology, so gifted students can work with differentiated academic content, leverage technology to foster their creativity, join in digital collaborations to extend the curriculum through individual interests, and even establish digital "me-portfolios." Start with the Helpful Background, basics about gifted students, and move through several pages to help you plan appropriate activities for your gifted students-- and help them be involved in the planning, as well. Begin each day with a short share circle where students briefly express how they're feeling or share something positive. This builds a sense of community and helps students practice active listening and empathy. Start a weekly compliment chain where students are encouraged to sincerely compliment a peer each day. Have students set daily or weekly goals individually or as a class and track progress. For example, students could choose a teamwork goal for group activities. Use bulb as a portfolio tool to showcase your work, share ideas, and ask for feedback. Sign up with your Google, Microsoft, or Clever account or enter your email. With a free account you get all of the standard features, and can choose to publish ten portfolio pages and upload up to 2GB of content. After creating your account, click to take a tour, then in 140 characters tell members who you are, create a cover image (optional), and then choose to create a page or a collection (multiple pages). You can also create groups (with or without Google), and lots more. Click symbols at the top right of your name to get help, search, create pages or collections, and more. On the home page in the top menu bar, look at projects students and teachers have created. bulb is easy to use due to its drag and drop interface. Besides creating text, you can embed images and videos, and integrate with your Google Drive. bulb offers educators a special account that integrates your LMS, has a teacher dashboard, and dedicated manager and tech support for a very minimal fee per year.

In the Classroom
Use bulb for student portfolios in any subject. Set up an account with your teacher name, email, password, and some basic information. Once you and your students' accounts are set up, share how to get around bulb on an interactive whiteboard or with a projector to get students started. When you (or your students) create group pages, anyone you invite can publish to the group. However, students will also have their own account and can keep pages private. Science teachers could have students write up their lab reports in a portfolio, and history teachers could set up portfolios for student report writing. Have teens and older students upload work throughout the year to create their own "me-portfolios." Create portfolios (with permission) to share younger students' work with parents and students during conferences. Use this tool to show finished projects or to show changes in a project from start to finish. Make a work prototype site and upload examples of exemplary work to share with students to set expectations for completed products before beginning a project. Create a link to this tool on your class website for students to share projects and information. (Get parent permission before posting students' work!) Have students take ownership of their own portfolios to show progress and products across several years. Have older students build portfolios to share as part of career and college preparation. Discover a huge collection of interactive illustrations to help explain complex concepts in science, technology, art, math, and a range of other topics. Use these activities to create interactive visualizations. There are thousands of Mathematica Demonstrations. A demonstration is a Mathematica notebook that takes advantage of Mathematica's manipulate command. Use the manipulate command to create sliders or buttons or check boxes to change the values of parameters in the displays in the demonstration. The result is you control the animation. View demonstrations on topics ranging from odd and even numbers to odd and even functions, fractions to fractals, and from linear functions to linear algebra and linear programming. In addition to mathematical topics, there are demonstrations illustrating the time in different cities around the world, global demographic information, the solar system, and art and music concepts. You need to download the Wolfram CDF player to use and interact with the demonstrations.

Explain how to use the Demonstrations on your interactive whiteboard (or projector). Allow students to explore on their own classroom computers. (Remember to download the CDF player onto each computer or request it in advance from your tech department.) Challenge students to create a talking avatar using a photo or other image (legally permitted for reproduction). Use avatars to explain activities performed using a Demonstration. Use a site such as Blabberize, reviewed here. The beauty of the demonstrations is that it allows students to manipulate and "play" to view the impact of changes made, allowing many opportunities for classroom discussion. Preparation for these types of exams can greatly improve scores, so why not use a free, pre-built tool? Sign up as a student, teacher, or parent/mentor. A logged-in user can access state standardized test preparations, SAT and ACT practice tests, flashcards for ACT and SAT test preparation, Zero Hour Threat (a cool video game to help increase ACT and SAT scores as part of the college entrance process), and college planning tips.

Scroll through the site to find Core Thinking Routines, Digging Deeper into Ideas, Introducing & Exploring Ideas, and several other topics. Use the filters to find thinking routines by subject area, thinking disposition or competence, or project. After selecting, choose the resource link to view an in-depth explanation of the routine, including a stated purpose, application, and tips for launching the activity. Some links also include student handouts and an educator guide.

Nappy provides stunning, high-resolution photographs of black and brown people for free download and use for personal and commercial purposes. Although the Creative Commons license permits use without attribution, it is always encouraged to provide photo credit when possible. Registration isn't required; browse the site to find images, then download by choosing one of the three image size options. Create a free account to save favorites and create personalized collections of photographs.

It's as easy as 123 to create a blog or build your website with Site123. Click the Get Started button and choose the type of website you want. There are 16 categories ranging from blogs to music, business, photography, portfolio, creative arts, and several others. Next, add the name for your blog or website, and last, sign up with your name and email, or your Facebook or Google account. Once this is done you can start designing by choosing from templates, their royalty-free images (or upload your own), add text, videos, and music. Use your dashboard to add pages and edit at any time, even after you've published your page. An added bonus is that you can create multiple websites and/or blogs under one account and one admin username. Be sure to check out the video tutorials for building your website and all the features available to you, such as approving comments, sharing on social media, and more! If your district blocks YouTube the tutorials may not be viewable. You can then look under the settings tab, the FAQs, or write to a support person (available 24/7).

Use this site for students to post or collect material for simple projects such as stories, poems, art projects, science lab write-ups, or the week's problem in math. Collect a master list of URLs to student pages on your classroom website, wiki, or blog for easy access. If students are creating pages, check with your district's policy on publishing student work. Create pages for quick link-sharing or upcoming events such as field trips, class party information, school events, science fairs, etc. Students can create simple pages to share links to include in presentations so classmates can participate on laptops. Easily annotate images using "hotspots" created using the Image Annotator. Upload an image from your computer. Click on any spot within your image to add a title, description, and URL link if desired. Add as many hotspots as you want, then save when finished. The Image Annotator requires a password when finished, this allows you the option to return and edit your photo. Share your image by choosing the embed icon, the popup provides links to the URL link, embed code, QR code, or download the web shortcut.

Image Annotator offers an endless array of options for classroom use. Create an image with hotspots to share on your whiteboard as an introduction to any new unit of study, or start with a blank image and add hotspots throughout your unit with included links to additional information. Be sure to share the link to your interactive image on your class website. Ask students to create an interactive image as an alternative to a written assignment, have them include links to websites used for their research or to work they created online.
