In the Classroom
Introduce this site during a comparative literature unit to help students explore how a single story transforms across different cultures. Start by having students choose a well-known tale and use the site's annotations to identify recurring motifs or symbols. To engage students further, ask them to select two cultural variants of the same story--such as the Chinese and Egyptian versions of Cinderella--to compare character motivations and settings. Enhance the lesson by having students curate their findings and favorite illustrations into a Wakelet, reviewed here collection to share with the class. To extend the learning and apply their research, students can then design a modern "fractured" version of the tale using Canva for Education, reviewed here to create a digital storybook or infographic that blends traditional elements with a contemporary twist. This approach encourages critical thinking and provides a multifaceted look at global storytelling traditions.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member
