Promofocus is a customizable timer that works on either a desktop or mobile browser. The aim of the timer is to help focus on tasks using the Pomodoro Technique. The Pomodoro Technique uses a timer to break work into 25-minute intervals with short breaks. Basic features include an estimate of how long it takes to complete a daily task, the ability to save templates, visual reports showing how much time is spent each day, week, and month, and customizable alarms and background sounds.

An exam wrapper is a simple reflection tool you give students right after they receive a graded exam. Instead of just glancing at their score and moving on, students take time to think about what worked, what didn't, and how they can improve next time. The video series starts with a clip from Andrew Carroll sharing the importance of the power and significance of presidential speeches throughout United States history. The series then continues with speeches from presidents including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. The video series has options for selecting the length of the speeches to watch. Speeches can be two minutes to up to an hour in length.

Under Procedures and Set Up, there is a link to a Handout Google Slide presentation called Choice Board that has questions including evidence of the speech's power, significance, what the president is asking people to do, and the tone/charisma of the president. After listening to all the speeches, students can answer the question, "Having now listened to and read a famous historical presidential speech, describe how a speech can define a presidency." Students can share their replies on a class Padlet (virtual bulletin board) reviewed here. The Crash Course has over 45 videos on topics ranging from Anatomy to Zoology, Artificial Intelligence to Outbreak Science. There are the more common topics one might want to learn about, like Ecology, Films, Geography, and much more. All videos are free to watch. Each video also includes a short description (some with lesson stem ideas). Crash Course videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district/school blocks YouTube, they may not be viewable. The good news for teachers whose schools block YouTube is that you can download the video if you fill out a form. Go to the Download tab from the top menu, select Students & Teachers, scroll down the page, and follow the directions.

Numerade STEM Bootcamps provide free, interactive video lessons in STEM subjects like math, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics. The platform includes Bootcamps with step-by-step video tutorials, practice problems, and quizzes designed to enhance students' understanding. You can access a variety of topics for different grade levels and standardized tests like the ACT and SAT. The videos have captions available for students who may need them. Videos do have discussions under them, so be mindful of this if are having students use them independently.

In the Classroom
Flip your classroom and have students watch Numerade Bootcamp videos at home to learn foundational concepts before class. They then can apply their learning through in-class lessons. Have students create and take practice quizzes based on Numerade's standardized test prep Bootcamps using a program like Quizlet, reviewed here. This will engage them in active test prep, enhance recall through repeated practice, and extend readiness for exams. Have students summarize a Numerade bootcamp topic by creating short review videos with Padlet, reviewed here, helping their classmates understand key points from the videos. Varsity Tutors offers a series of free live classes for summer learning. These sessions begin on May 6 and run through August 14. Classes provide learning opportunities to help students prepare for the SAT and ACT exams, learn about hieroglyphics, visit an aquarium, and more. Select the link to any class to learn more about the content and suggested grade levels, and enroll. Each class is offered at a specific time and date and lasts 45 minutes to an hour.

Include links to these free classes with your other summer reading and learning opportunities shared with students and parents. Twinkl offers a wide range of educational resources. They provide craft activity ideas for Mother's Day that can be used in classrooms or at home. These activities include printable templates, step-by-step craft instructions, and creative ideas to make personalized gifts and decorations. Some crafts have explanation videos that are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

In the Classroom
Choose from any of the crafts to create Mother's Day gifts. While the focus is Mother's Day, these crafts can be utilized in any subject area as a way for students to demonstrate their knowledge. Use Book Creator, reviewed here, to have students create interactive e-books that include stories, poems, and crafts for Mother's Day. You can then share the e-books with families. Many of the templates are PDFs. Have students upload them to a program like Canva Edu, reviewed here and they can type or draw on the PDFs. Then, share them electronically or print them out and to be displayed in the classroom. Incorporate math by having the students create pixel art using the cross-stitch activity.
This resource requires PDF reader software like Adobe Acrobat.
