AudioPen helps turn your spoken thoughts into organized notes and ideas. The concept behind AudioPen is simple: turn on the microphone and start talking without worrying about organization, grammar, or coherence. After completing a recording, AudioPen uses AI to process your speech and generate a cleaned-up text version organized into readable paragraphs, along with a transcript of the original recording. Visit the settings menu before recording to adjust the input and output languages and customize how your notes are formatted. When finished, copy the generated text to your clipboard for use in emails, documents, lesson plans, or other projects. Depending on your account level, you may also be able to download audio recordings and organize saved notes for future reference. A free plan is available and allows users to create recordings up to three minutes long. The free version includes core transcription and note-cleanup features, while AudioPen Prime offers longer recordings, audio file uploads, advanced writing styles, expanded organization tools, and additional AI-powered features.

In the Classroom

Use AudioPen in several different classroom situations. Share this tool with students to use as an assistant with writing projects. Have students create recordings of what they want to include in their project without having to write or take notes, then use the text to organize their project. AudioPen is also a helpful tool for multilingual students. Adjust the settings to record their thoughts in their native language, then produce an organized set of ideas in English without transcribing from one language to another. Use AudioPen to assist with professional tasks such as organizing teaching units, writing grant proposals, or planning ideas to include with newsletters.

There are two types of AI generators on the site; course planning and activity generators. The course planning generators can create lesson objectives, flash cards, topic notes, and a scheme of work. The course activity generator creates learning activities, rubrics, multiple-choice quizzes, SMART goals, discussion topics, and more. To use TeacherMatic's generators, click on what you would like to create, enter an objective, the number of moves you need, and the level of complexity your lesson requires. After entering all the topic information, click generate and watch your lesson plan ideas come to life!

In the Classroom

Share information from this site on your interactive whiteboard as an introduction to the Savanna biome. Ask students to use the tools on your whiteboard to highlight important information, then save your work on your computer to share on your class website. Ask students to participate in an online bulletin board, such as Lino, reviewed here, to reflect on what they are learning and collect information and images about the Savanna biome. Challenge students to create an annotated image sharing information about the Savanna or animals found on the Savanna including text boxes and related links using a tool such as Google Drawings, reviewed here. Google Drawings allows you to annotate an image with links to videos, text, websites, and more. Have students work in groups to create a virtual field trip to Savannas around the world using Google Earth, reviewed here.

Remind is a safe and easy way to send reminders to students and parents via text message. When sending a text, the site is set up so that students & parents do not see the teachers' phone numbers, and vice versa. Create an account. Any phone that can receive text messages will accept these. Communication through this site is safe and secure. You only see the names of your students, not their phone numbers, and they only see your name -- not your cell phone number. With Remind, you can schedule reminders for the future, translate your message into 70 languages, send photos, PDFs, voice clips, and see who has read your messages. Be sure to obtain parental permission FIRST, as standard messaging rates apply. Be sure to click the Security Overview to read about Remind's FERPA and COPPA compliance.

In the Classroom

Set up accounts for all your classes, and even your extracurricular activities, to send homework, project, and supply reminders. Remind students of upcoming events, practices, or things they need to bring to class or practice. You could also use this to communicate with parents (allow them to sign up for text message updates at back-to-school night). Share this site in the first week of school to save time throughout the entire year. Remind parents of big tests, report cards, field trips, deadlines, back-to-school night, sneaker days, conferences, and more. Set up a faculty reminder group within your school for emergency closures and more.
