Print bingo cards for use with the bingo games. Use the warmups for math practice, or use many of the other games on the site.

Warmups use Flash and are perfect for a projector or interactive whiteboard to get the brains working and recap number sense and mental math skills. Practice makes perfect. These different practice and reinforcement activities offer help with various operations and skills necessary to complete math assignments and problems. The Mathematics Enhancement Programme is a comprehensive resource full of free math curriculum resources for all grade levels. Materials include lesson plans, practice materials, printable number lines and cards, and student activity sheets. Click any key stage level to download an entire year's worth of course materials. In addition to printed materials, interactive tutorials (offered in a fairly basic-looking computer style) offer lessons and remediation for many math topics. The site was created in the UK, so some of the pronunciations and spellings may differ from those in American English (as well as the type of currency used for money problems). The site dates back a ways, so the actual "look" is a bit old fashioned.

Calkoo is a great free tool to replace expensive graphing calculators that many students may not have. Calkoo works well on computers, mobile devices, and interactive whiteboards. Use this site during a unit on careers, economics, or financial literacy. Include it as part of a measurement unit. Share during Family and Consumer Science units to explore the cost of living and have students put together a mythical "budget" for living in their chosen career. Have students send you on a vacation and include calculations for the currency converter, fuel cost calculator, sales tax for souvenirs, and more! This is a great site to support many experiments in science. Calculate acceleration, velocity, and time, or use the mathematics category to complete problems. Use this tool in social studies class for quickly calculating years or months from important timelines or when figuring out geographical distances. In English or L.A. classes, quickly figure out the life span of authors or how long ago a story took place. In health or science classes, use the BMI calculator or get other accurate measurements. Pre-tests target areas of struggle and assign curriculum based on need. Never again will students have to practice material they have already mastered. The progress tracking throughout is based on Common Core standards. Adjust assigned curriculum on your own if desired by reassigning a pre-test or assigning your own lessons. Register using your email and school information to begin. Add your student list. Once created students have their own individual login to begin placement testing. Magical Maths is a blog dedicated to exploring and sharing math concepts and teaching ideas from around the world. Some example topics include how to teach anyone to multiply any two-digit numbers in 11 seconds and the top 10 biggest brain-damaging habits. The blog is written in the United Kingdom, so references to their curriculum and "key stage" divisions are included. However, the material is appropriate to anyone teaching math. Search the site using keywords to find posts on particular subjects. Choose from specific categories listed on the side of the page. One very useful category is the lesson starters with ideas for beginning a math lesson. Subscribe to the blog to receive updates via RSS feed. Some of the videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

Looking for a way to add challenges to your middle school math curriculum or gifted classes? Try Figure This, a site of math challenges developed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Figure This offers a number of challenges in English and Spanish to be used in a classroom or offered to families for math challenges at home. A PowerPoint is included to help increase parent involvement. Learn why most manholes are round, how fast your heart beats, and numerous other interesting topics. At the time of this review, there were 80 "Challenges" to explore. All of high interest and intriguing topics! Although mainly math activity, many border on science topics as well. Each activity offers hints and answers explained in many ways. Finding the answer is rather tricky! Scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the link to Answer. Don't miss the Teachers Corner. It includes all beginning materials; PowerPoints, forms, and ideas you need to begin!

In the Classroom
In the classroom, use Figure This to help differentiate instruction for all levels, especially the high-achievers and gifted students. Allow students to work independently, or work in pairs to solve challenges. Introduce the challenge on your interactive whiteboard projector. Then allow students to dive into the challenge! Use for gifted enrichment, or even a Math Challenge Day for a reward. Offer extra credit for the number of challenges solved. Use as a model to allow students to create their own challenges. Add to your website as a fun resource for students and families.

Create magical looking artwork as you click and drag with this beautiful site. Personalize the images using the color and format links at the bottom of the screen. Choose from vertical or four-way symmetry or symmetry off. Include new age music to add to the magical effects or turn music off with a simple click. Share your creations through links to X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, email, or copy the link. Share your art with using email, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Pinterest. Althought there is no option to print or save a finished design, you could take a screenshot (Shift+ Command +4 on a mac or Prtscrn key on Windows) and save or paste it into a document to write about or save.
In the Classroom
Use this site to explore symmetry with your students on your interactive whiteboard or projector. Watch what happens when you choose from the different available options. Discuss what emotions certain colors can induce. Have students create their own artwork then print and post to a class bulletin board display (or share on your class website or blog). Challenge students to identify the type or types of symmetry shown in each design. Use this site in both art and math class while learning about symmetry. The virtual geoboard provides an online geoboard experience for elementary and middle school students. Choose a rubber band color and drag it to any peg. Move the rubber band to form new shapes and angles. Make any shape created on a regular geoboard to demonstrate lines, angles, triangle formation, and more. Fill and unfill shapes using the provided color tool. Choose from a 5 X 5 or 15 X 10 pegboard using the link at the bottom of the page. Want to learn more? See the i link.

Display the virtual geoboard on your interactive whiteboard or projector to show students what they create on their individual whiteboards. Transform learning and challenge cooperative learning groups to create videos sharing problem solving techniques used during these lessons.
