This site offers information about energy, including games and videos, for students and provides curriculum materials for teachers. Students can read and learn about the history of electricity, power safety tips, and learn about "green" power. Games include Power Bandit, a word search, crossword, and jigsaw puzzles. Beware of the Energy Vampire explains to students how to save energy, and which appliances use a lot of energy. There is a large inventory of videos showing different types of energy production plants, explaining power production through the use of coal and nuclear reactors, and the history of the TVA. Teachers, be sure to check out the teacher's section of the site which includes lesson plans and activities for elementary through high school. Engaging and colorful.

This site provides practice with probability through the use of dice and spinners. After choosing an option of dice or spinner, the number of spins (or rolls) can be selected. Players can also create their own dice (for example, only using 2 different numbers instead of 6). A tally of results is provided within the activity. The learner portion of the site provides a short overview to probability and its uses within the real world. The instructor portion contains links to standards and some textbooks, an overview of use within the classroom and links to similar resources.

Use this site as a learning station or center. Have students predict outcomes of coin tosses or dice rolls before completing the activity and compare the results to their prediction. Compile all of the students outcomes into one large class graph, table, or tally and compare that information to their predictions and the probabilities of each outcome. Create a class graph (online) to share the results using a site such as Crappy Graphs reviewed here. This site provides practice with patterns, relations, and functions through the tale of the the Tortoise and the Hare. The amount of the tortoise's head-start can be changed, then take the racers through the various stages to find out who wins! Students will enjoy predicting the winner while watching the race unfold. This activity allows two users to play a game of order of operations where each player tries to connect four game pieces in a row before his or her opponent does. The players can choose to answer problems which use addition / subtraction, multiplication / division, exponents, and parentheses. They can also choose the difficulty level. The learner tab provides useful information to students on using order of operations. The instructor section includes classroom advice, links to standards and textbooks, and related activities including a printable quiz.

Use as some great starters to a unit where students can question what needs to be understood to solve the problem. Brainstorm questions, research information, or use these as starters for daily lessons. Provide time for students to view videos and report their understandings via a blog or report. Create student reviews of videos to be placed on a blog and allow for commenting on the videos and the reviews themselves.

Looking for a great resource site that offers visualizations of complex cellular activities? Use DNA Tube as your visual scientific resource. This non-profit scientific site provides video-based studies, lectures, and seminars that are for more advanced and motivated students. Use the video-based explanations of a large variety of biological concepts to remove barriers to understanding for students. Click "watch" to see thumbnails of videos. Use the search bar at the top to find relevant videos. Use the Category tab to search across categories such as lectures, experiments, ecology, genetics, and more. Sign up for the site to download videos after entering your login information. Along the bottom of each video page, find thumbnails of related videos as well as related topics. Topics include various areas of science and math. This site does allow you to upload your own videos. Uploading videos requires registration.
