On this We Are Teachers page, find a curated list of virtual field trip resources to enhance students' learning experiences. These virtual experiences allow students to explore museums, historical sites, natural wonders, and other educational destinations from the comfort of their classrooms or homes! On this site, you'll find descriptions and links to various virtual field trip opportunities, and some resources provide tips for integrating them into lesson plans and activities. Many of these virtual trips are available on multiple YouTube channels. If your district blocks YouTube, the videos may not be viewable. In addition, some of these virtual field trips are sourced from several other sites and organizations; we advise that you review the privacy policies of these external sites to ensure compliance with their district's privacy policies.

Virtual field trips can immerse students in diverse learning experiences that allow teachers to go beyond the boundaries of their classroom. Find a virtual field trip that is relevant or connected to an upcoming unit. Begin by conducting an anonymous poll using a tool like Poll Everywhere, reviewed here or Mentimeter, reviewed here showing images from one of the virtual field trips you've chosen. Display images showcasing significant landmarks, main attractions, or features of the location. Students can post their wonderings, insights, or prior knowledge about the destination based solely on the images. This can ignite curiosity and generate excitement as students speculate about where the destination is. After gathering students' responses, announce that you'll be "taking them there" virtually through an upcoming virtual field trip! During the virtual field trip, integrate presentation tools using Pear Deck, reviewed here. Incorporate interactive question slides throughout the virtual field trip to prompt students to reflect on their learning, make connections, and apply their knowledge. You can even intersperse the presentation with interactive quizzes, polls, or collaborative brainstorming sessions. You can use this to keep the field trip active and engaging rather than a passive sit-and-get activity. Wrap it up by challenging students to become virtual field trip creators! Let them select a destination they want to "visit" and design an ideal virtual field trip experience for their peers. You can provide a template or criteria for students to consider when planning their virtual field trips. Students can use creation tools such as Google Slides, reviewed here or Canva Education Templates, reviewed here to create brochures or presentations that outline the details of their virtual field trip. Introduce the choice board of podcasts to students and encourage students to explore the podcasts based on their interests. Facilitate discussions about the podcasts, allowing students to share their favorite episodes and insights with their peers. You can use a tool like Padlet, reviewed here which offers a digital bulletin board for students to share insights and reflections or students can record video responses discussing their favorite podcast episodes. This is a link to Padlet's Help section for posting video or an image. Integrate some of the podcasts into existing units of study as supplemental resources. For example, assign a relevant podcast from Julie's Library to complement a reading lesson. You can then provide guiding questions or reflection prompts to help students make connections between the podcast content and what they're learning in class. Here's a great blog post on Questioning Strateties that can help you craft those. Wrap it all up by giving students an opportunity to create their own podcasts. Choose from several free resources to create your podcasts. Spotify for Podcasters (was Anchor), reviewed here, Buzzsprout, reviewed here, and PodOmatic, reviewed here. This can be a great collaborative project where students work together to produce podcasts on topics of their choice or related to the unit of study. Imagine automatically creating a video from a written description. That's a fantastic prospect, and it is now possible using the magic of Invideo AI. InVideo AI turns your ideas into videos in just a few short minutes. After creating an account, select the link to make a video. In the chat space, describe the video in detail and provide instructions for completing it, using up to 3600 characters. After adding the description, choose the button to generate the video and wait for the magic to happen. Creating videos will take a few minutes. Once your video is generated, use the available tools to regenerate it if changes are desired, or export the video when ready. Download the video to your device in MP4 format, then select from the available video quality options. Share videos with students from your device, using the provided link, or export videos to YouTube, reviewed here. Free accounts offer 10 minutes of video generation per week, 10 GB of storage, and 4 weekly exports with the InVideo logo. Add Sembl to your teacher's toolbox of activities to support math instruction. Most tasks include links to extended directions and additional enhancements to extend student learning. Pear Practice is a gamified learning experience that promotes collaborative learning and independent practice using tools provided by Pear Deck, reviewed here. Use Pear Practice to create learning experiences or choose from the large selection of activities in the practice sets. When creating a set, Pear Practice allows members to create multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, drawing, and drag-and-drop questions. Once a practice set is chosen, create an assignment for individual practice or start a live practice by choosing one of the game mode options. Options within live practice activities allow educators to set time limits for questions, allow guest students not in Pear Deck classrooms, and create random groups. Students join activities using the unique code or by sharing a link. When sharing as an assignment, specify a start and ending date and assign an accuracy goal for students to achieve. Students can retake the assignment as often as needed to meet the accuracy goal. Many activities in Pear Practice's public library correlate to Common Core Standards.

The Mind Map Generator quickly creates mind maps from your prompt using artificial intelligence (AI) without requiring registration. Describe an idea or topic in the chat box, then click the arrow to continue. Information is presented in a flowchart with colored labels. The chart offers options to edit your mind map's style and content, and view by clicking each card containing information. Additional features allow you to "ask AI" to add supplemental content such as maps and images. When finished, use the provided links to export your mind map as a PNG file, generate a link for others to access and edit the information, and publish it as a web page.

Although the interface for this mind map tool appears to be very simple, it offers many opportunities to create and share complex results. Begin by making simple mind maps such as themes found in novels your class reads or features of a state you study. After creating a mind map, ask this tool to build a visual story, for example, of the events leading up to the Civil War, then use the presentation feature to share and view with your students. As you become more familiar with the available features, modify the mind maps created to produce a personalized visual representation that fits your needs and includes links to additional information. Use the chat feature to make images and maps to supplement students' learning. Share mind maps you create as you begin a new unit as a helpful visual tool for students to understand the different components to recognize in your studies. Extend learning by developing a simple mind map of your topic and sharing it with students. Ask students to contribute information to the mind map that correlates to the information already included. Because this tool contains many features, it might be helpful to ask tech-savvy students to create video tutorials sharing how to use and modify the mind maps created.
