Incorporating Jr. NBA at Home into the classroom can be a dynamic way to engage students, enhance their learning experience, and extend physical education beyond the traditional gym setting. Use Jr. NBA at Home drills for morning movement sessions or brain breaks. These short, structured activities can energize students and improve focus for the rest of the school day. If you're a Physical Education educator, you can integrate the Jr. NBA's skill development exercises into your P.E. curriculum. These drills, tailored for various skill levels, ensure all students can participate and progress at their own pace. You could even challenge students to do these activities outside the classroom by assigning Jr. NBA at Home challenges as homework. Students can complete these activities with their families and share their experiences with the class; this can help promote healthy habits and family engagement.

Water, Water Everywhere - is one of the TeachersFirst Help! I lost my media/library specialist collection found here. This article features topics and resources that explain how little fresh water there is in the world. The Introduction and Background Knowledge give facts about fresh water and explain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for accessible, clean water. The Activities section suggests several books to read that range from ages PreK to grade 12, with seven videos from which to choose. One activity suggests students practice walking with jugs of water balancing on their heads. Another activity is to simulate cleaning up bird feathers after an oil spill. Additional resources and activities are suggested in the Extensions section.

tag(s): pollution (51), sustainability (42), water (101)

In the Classroom

Include books from this list on your recommended books list to share with students. Engage students further by completing the activity about walking with a water container on their heads. Use Padlet, reviewed here to have students relate how it felt to balance and carry the water and how they could make getting water easier for the community. This is a link to Padlet's Help section for posting video or an image. Ask students to listen to and comment on other classmates' descriptions and ideas. Possibly work with the physical education teacher to teach students how to balance a jug on their head and walk at the same time.

Pulling all of your lesson content into one collection that students can navigate independently is a great instructional strategy. When used to implement flipped/blended learning, Wakelet allows students to be more self-reliant and gives the instructor more time to help students who struggle. Wakelet offers flexibility in how you share content with your students encouraging creativity in both the instructional sequence and in the ways students demonstrate learning. Join us to learn how Wakelet can be used to reshape your classroom. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand how Wakelet can be used to deliver differentiated blended learning lessons; 2. Explore Wakelet's built-in tools that support instruction; and 3. Plan to deliver a lesson using Wakelet. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
