Insect Records Catalog
Grades
6 to 12tag(s): insects (63)
In the Classroom
While some of the world records might make students a little queasy, (see the worlds biggest bug) this site would be an excellent way to get students interested in the study of insects. Share the site on an interactive whiteboard or projector, and allow students to explore it in groups. What would be interesting is to see how many record holders were local insects. Have students create a digital record book, including images on a site such as Bookemon, reviewed here.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member

Sky & Telescope Online
Grades
6 to 12tag(s): stars (78)
In the Classroom
Probably the coolest part of this website is entitled "observing," which provides helpful calendars, explanations and images of solar events that are happening soon locally. Refer to this site for upcoming solar phenomena, and encourage students to go out and observe on their own. If there are events in the area, assign students to observe and create a report based on what they saw! If students are able to gather images of the event, we recommend a tool like PowerPoint Online, reviewed here. This site allows users to narrate a picture, and could provide some cool presentations in class.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member
