Khan's Ancient Indus Valley Civilization is a site that has information on the Ancient Indus Valley. The site includes an 11 minute video and then details geography, urban infrastructure, architecture, innovation, religion, language, hierarchies, and its decline. There are questions at the end for students to answer/think about and a short quiz. The activities from Khan Academy can be posted to Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams.

Bell Ringers for Improved Retention and Engagement shares the value of Bell Ringers. Bell Ringers engage students in short assignments and/or assessments, review key concepts that were previously taught, spark classroom discussion, and identify misconceptions and misunderstandings. Bell Ringers should help the information sink in; therefore, activities should engage students in new, unusual, or unexpected ways. Edtomorrow's First Five is a free website that shares resources for practical, restorative tools and daily resources that foster strong connections, build authentic classroom communities, and inspire student engagement. Each day, you can receive more than 18 activities and ideas that focus on classroom connections, self-care, care for others, and character development. Activities includes a funny meme questions, at-the-door (greeting), quick connect, check in, mindfulness, positivity, quote, and video. These activities are 5 minutes or less and can be used throughout the day. The First Five is divided into Primary (Pre-K to 5) and Secondary (6-12). You can also access archived First Fives.

In the Classroom

The First Five can be used in classrooms as part of a morning meeting or student check-in activity. Students can use the First Five to discuss the question, quote of the day, or video. Finally, students can use the activities and ideas in the First Five to demonstrate being role models to other students.
