Affinity is a free professional design application that combines photo editing, vector illustration, and page layout tools into a single downloadable program for Windows and macOS. Students and teachers can use its Pixel, Vector, and Layout studios to edit photographs, create original graphics and logos, design posters or infographics, and produce polished multi-page publications such as newsletters, brochures, and portfolios. Its layer-based tools and customizable workspace make it a strong option for digital art, media, and presentation projects, particularly when students need more precise design controls than a basic online creation tool provides. The core software is free, although some Canva AI features available within Affinity may require a Pro Canva plan, which is free for educators by enrolling in Canva for Education, reviewed here.

Individual course pages may include an overview, instructor information, syllabus, lecture sequence, downloadable materials, and other course resources, with many courses organized into multiple modules or weeks. Gradescope is an online assessment and grading platform that helps educators manage and evaluate paper-based, digital, and online assignments more efficiently. Teachers can create flexible rubrics, grade one question at a time across an entire class, annotate student work, provide targeted feedback, and view assignment-level statistics to identify learning trends. The platform supports instructor-uploaded and student-uploaded PDF assignments, online questions, bubble sheets, and programming assignments; some question types can also be automatically graded. Gradescope allows multiple instructors, teaching assistants, or graders to work on the same assignment using shared rubrics, helping support consistent and efficient grading. Students can review published scores and feedback, submit regrade requests when enabled, and use the mobile app to scan and upload work. Use Gradescope to collect and grade short-answer responses, constructed responses, essays, lab explanations, or problem-solving work. Create a question-by-question rubric that applies consistently across student submissions, then add reusable comments or annotations to identify strengths and next steps. Students can view the published rubric and feedback to better understand how their work was evaluated. Create a short online assignment or upload a paper exit ticket after a lesson. Review results by question to identify skills that may need reteaching, such as citing evidence, solving multi-step problems, using vocabulary accurately, or explaining scientific thinking. Assignment statistics can help teachers spot class-wide trends and plan targeted small-group instruction. After students receive feedback on a writing assignment, math explanation, or project reflection, have them review the rubric and choose one or two areas to improve. Students can submit a revised version through a follow-up assignment and include a brief reflection explaining what they changed and why.
