Twee offers a collection of artificial intelligence (AI) tools designed specifically for English teachers to quickly generate classroom materials. After creating a free account, teachers can access tools that work with videos, texts, vocabulary, and grammar practice. Twee integrates with platforms like YouTube to generate comprehension questions, summaries, and pre-viewing prompts from video content. Additional tools support the creation of assessments, discussion questions, and homework activities. Some features also allow users to convert images into text, making it easy to turn screenshots into usable classroom materials. Activities can be copied into documents or exported as PDFs for sharing with students. The free plan includes a limited number of daily AI tool uses (such as a set number of runs per day for text-based tools) along with unlimited sharing of created resources, making it a useful but somewhat restricted option for regular classroom use.

gotFeedback uses artificial intelligence (AI) features to provide clear and actionable feedback for student writing. After making your free account, describe the type of feedback requested, such as details, a clear thesis statement, or the use of specific claims to support information. Next, upload the writing to be analyzed or copy and paste the text into the designated area. After submitting your writing sample, gotFeedback provides you with feedback, including suggestions for improvement and a sample revision.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (273), assessment (139), feedback (13), writing (309)

In the Classroom

Use gotFeedback to provide quick assessments of students' writing and to focus on specific ways to improve their work. Use the Prompt Guide on gotFeedback to understand how to provide clear and actionable feedback to support students. If desired, share the revised writing example with students to use as a model for editing their work, or share the feedback and ask them to change based on that information. Use Google Docs or Microsoft Word for students to track and share writing revisions. For example, ask students to begin writing projects in Google Docs. After sharing their work, use gotFeedback to analyze the work based on your criteria, then share the feedback portion with the student. Ask the student to highlight areas that need improvement, then use that information as a starting point to revise the text below the original text. When finished, ask the student to write a short reflective piece on methods to improve his writing. Using this method allows you to view each writing process step as a reflective activity.

Begin by clicking the link to edit a timeline and change the informational text to add information to your timeline. Copy and paste data from a website or document or type information into the timeline generator. Add images by putting square brackets around key information as described in the instructions; Class Tools finds images based on your content. Timelines must contain ten or more items to use the save feature. When saving a timeline, provide a password when prompted to access your unique URL. Timelines are not kept on Class Tools, so save the URL in an easy-to-find location for use later and edit information if desired. Additional options available for sharing timelines include QR codes and embed codes.

In the Classroom

Take advantage of this timeline creator to create and share timelines that engage students for many classroom uses and content. For example, create a timeline of events in a novel or historical event, use a timeline to show steps in a progression of events such as turning a bill into law, or create a timeline of class events throughout the school year to share during the end-of-year activities. Ask students to create a timeline using this generator and include a link in a multimedia presentation. Enhance learning by asking students to create a timeline of events as an alternative to a written presentation. Include the timeline link as part of an interactive presentation or image created with Genially, reviewed here. If necessary, ask a student to create a video tutorial of how to create and share a timeline using the Turbo Timeline Generator and share the tutorial on your class site for students to access as needed.

Claude is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that serves many purposes, such as summarizing and analyzing information, translating text and data, and creating ideas and responses to text. One useful feature in Claude is adding up to five files in PDF, txt, CSV, and other formats. Begin by creating an account using your email address or Google account. Enter your message in the chat box, and Claude will respond based on your input. Use the option to regenerate the request if you want to see different answers, or use the chat box to type in clarifying information to improve the response. View your chat history below the message box and click any chat to review the reply. Use the drop box with the message's title to rename the chat or delete it from your history. Always verify any information provided by Claude before using it. (Claude is an evolving tool, and many features regularly change (or upgrade).

In the Classroom

Use this resource to improve productivity by asking it to create quizzes, rubrics, lesson plans, and more. Because Claude includes the option to add files, increase productivity further by attaching a worksheet and asking it to modify the content to differentiate learning or to suggest ideas for presenting the content in a different format. Be sure to ask for information as precisely as possible by including grade-level information, the subject you teach, content standards and teaching objectives, and options for differentiating instruction. Math teachers can ask Claude to explain the content differently or ask for ideas on applying math topics to everyday life. In social studies or science, ask Claude to generate a vocabulary list or create a story based on your lessons incorporating essential vocabulary terms. ELA teachers might use Claude to get suggestions for interventions to support struggling readers or to find additional resources to support current lessons. Always verify any information provided by Claude before using it. Claude is an evolving tool, and many features change (or upgrade) regularly.

ZEP is a virtual space where members can move, speak, and interact with other community members and objects. ZEP allows subscribers to create virtual chatrooms that resemble real-life offices, classrooms, social gatherings, and businesses. Teachers can create virtual rooms, called spaces, using provided templates or create a room from scratch by starting with an empty map. Rooms can accommodate up to 20 people at a time. Members must be at least 14 years old to have an account, and it requires parental permission for minors. Zep does allow your space to be password protected, among other security settings, to create a safer online environment for your students.

Zep is a fun interactive space with many possibilities for classroom use! Choose from several games for content review or brain breaks. Quiz Show is a survival game where players survive by correctly answering quiz questions from the room host (the teacher). Escape Room is a game where you solve puzzles, discover clues, and complete tasks to escape from the game's setting in a limited time. The OX Quiz is a game where you correctly answer questions as they appear to survive. Choose the correct side and last to the end! Teachers can enhance their digital classrooms by adding announcements and links, collaboration spaces, and personalizing their space. Another great way to utilize the digital space is to make locations that may be physically inaccessible available digitally.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot that allows members to have conversations that answer questions and assist with many tasks. Create an account using your email address, Google, or Microsoft account. Use the "Send a Message" box at the bottom of the page to type a chat request and click send. ChatGPT provides a response based on your input. Use the option to regenerate the request if you want to see different answers, or use the chat box to type in clarifying information to improve the response. Always verify any information provided by ChatGPT before using it. This is an evolving tool, and many features change (or upgrade) on a regular basis.

In the Classroom

Use ChatGPT to increase your productivity and as a resource for finding classroom resources. For example, use the chat to find activities accompanying your current book study. An example question might be, "What are some activities to add to our study of Charlotte's Web in third grade?" Use a clarifying question to select one of the provided activities and ask for free online resources that support the provided response. This example includes several clarifying questions that provide additional ideas for books and activities to accompany Charlotte's. Ask ChatGPT to differentiate activities for students who need extra support or for those that need enrichment activities. Another use for ChatGPT is to write Student of the Week paragraphs; ask ChatGPT to write a paragraph including the student's name and accomplishments and revise the section to fit your needs.

K20 Games offers over a dozen games encouraging critical thinking skills through game-based learning. Games place students in the role of decision-makers in real-world situations. Examples of games include Aware, which puts the student as an emergency manager in a region plagued with emergency disasters, and Paper Trail. This game asks students to consider how to behave in a morally corrupt business community. To access the games as an educator, select the Request Games link and complete the required information to receive an invitation code. Receipt of the code typically takes 24-48 hours. After receiving the code, follow the directions in your email response to create an account. Create a class, then select games to assign to your students. Use this transcript creator in several ways to enhance student learning. Create a transcript to provide a written version of a video's content for hard-of-hearing students or those who will benefit from the audio recording and written content. Multilingual students may benefit from having written text to support video content. Provide a written transcript for students to use when watching a video to add notes and highlight important information. Share a copy of a video transcript in your learning management system for students to access when reviewing information for tests and quizzes. When working with videos that require in-depth discussion, consider copying the transcript into Fiskitt, reviewed here. Fiskett is a collaborative tool for annotating documents online. Ask students to highlight important information, add comments to clarify information, or use the included tags to label information as true or false.
