Owler AI uses artificial intelligence to leave feedback and grade essays using a rubric you design or choose from available rubrics on your Owler AI account. Create an account to begin, then add an assignment that includes grade level, background information, and the essay prompt. Next, choose from available rubrics or design your own. Upload up to 40 student documents to grade. Owler AI accepts PDFs, DOCx, and text files and submits them to receive feedback. When complete, Owler AI explains the score received, suggestions for improvement, and follow-up questions that can be shared using the provided link. As always, when using AI tools, it is important to remember that they aid teachers; however, they don't replace personalized teacher feedback.

The ReadLife Bookshelf on the Barbara Bush Foundation website offers a free online collection of books aimed at adults, children, families, and educators. This resource was developed in partnership with Worldreader's BookSmart app and includes guided activities for both readers and instructors. Each month features a new selection of books along with themed guides and resources for additional support, accessible by entering a specific library code, but you don't have to have one. The text and settings can be customized to the reader. Books are for all ages and available in English, Spanish and Ukrainian.

NotebookLM is the handy study aid you never knew you needed. Add links to websites and videos, text, and documents to create study guides, timelines, and even an audio podcast summarizing the information provided. Follow the prompts to add one or more items to your notebook. When ready, use the "Notebook Guide" to create study guides, FAQs, a table of contents, a timeline, or a briefing document. Once you create documents, if desired, select them to gather and create additional resources such as an outline or ask NotebookLM to suggest related ideas. The audio summary option creates a two-person conversation in the form of a podcast to discuss the information and offers some customization options, including the ability to focus the discussion on a specific topic or audience. The materials are shareable with a custom link, and the audio podcast is also available for download as a .WAV file.

Rock your lessons using popular music and pop culture to engage students. The standards-aligned lessons provide interdisciplinary connections using music as the starting point for in-depth explorations and guided activities. Use the search feature to find lessons and collections sorted by subject, music genre, type of activity, and topic. Subjects range from Civics to CTE to STEAM to Art/Design and many others. Each lesson begins with an essential question and includes procedures, student handouts, and videos.

In the Classroom
Take advantage of these free lessons to find standards-based lessons and activities for many content areas. This site is an excellent resource to bookmark and use throughout the year when discussing current events, specific countries or geographic areas, or for non-fiction reading. Find informational texts that matter to your students. Spark informational writing, as well. Allow students to browse the site to find interesting articles. Have students enhance their learning by creating magazine covers of information on this site using Magazine Cover Maker, reviewed here. Elevate learning by challenging students to create a newspaper article using articles on this site as a model using the Newspaper Clipping Generator, reviewed here. World language teachers will find this useful when viewing articles in French or Spanish to practice translation skills. Rosenfeld Community of Practices offers this resource site to teach students about Rosh Hoshanah and Yom Kippur. The site includes videos, songs, books, lesson plans, and much more. Each lesson plan includes teaching instructions, incorporating Jewish values, teaching materials, and extension activities. The videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.
