Select from several geography-themed games created by a Google software engineer to see how many cities you can name worldwide. Choose from games that focus on different continents or countries to begin playing. Type a city name in the box; if it is on the map, a red dot appears in its location. Click on the dot to view the city name and approximate location. As the game continues, the total number of cities and population appears under the map, along with additional population statistics based on your choices.

In the Classroom
Share this game on your interactive whiteboard and play together as a class. It is an excellent way to practice and reinforce skills in locating cities around the world. Create different options for students to use as a challenge, such as find the largest or smallest population you can create with five different cities, using ten cities that come as close to a population total of 10 million (or some other number) or use only state capitals to come close to a target number of the total population. After playing the different games, ask students to select one location they identified on a map and further research it. Twinkl Create is an interactive that includes templates that guide you by creating personalized banners, word mats, flyers, and much more.

Bookmark Twinkl for use throughout the year to find teaching resources for holidays, content topics, and homework ideas. Take advantage of Twinkl Create to easily make and differentiate charts, banners, word mats, and other classroom use printables. When saving favorite materials found on the site, set the popup reminder to remind you to use it later in the year. For example, when you find the End of Year packet, save it to your account and set a reminder for late spring so that it can be included with other items to include when wrapping up the school year or sending home materials for practice over the summer. Twinkl includes free teaching packets by grade level; these packets include activities customized for different ability levels. Use items from teaching packets as part of your center activities or send them home for additional practice as needed. After downloading materials, make your lessons digital using Kami, reviewed here. Use the free version of Kami to upload documents and add highlights, text, comments, and shapes before sharing with students.

Find and print maps that correlate to novels and stories being read in class and ask students to label the character's journey on the map. Visit the Resources portion of the site to browse through the many activities. Narrow your search using the provided filters to locate information by grade level, topic, type of activity, and more. If you are interested in a particular goal, such as Zero Hunger, find the poster with the 17 goals and click Zero Hunger to find activities and lessons. Downloadable lessons include complete directions, printable worksheets, and key questions highlighted during the lesson. The videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable. This site is a good one to leave for your substitute; it's high-interest, requires no sign-in, and includes lesson plans & video clips.

After registration, follow the steps to create a group, invite students, and ask questions. Choose from different options for student responses, including multiple-choice, short answer, emoji reactions, or a scaled score from 1-7. Invite students into your group using the provided code. Students use their Google account to login and access questions. Upon receiving responses, Loop provides options for responding to students. Free accounts allow two teachers to use the application with three groups and 50 students per group.

As the title states, this site converts PDF documents to Excel documents. Upload a file of any size from your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive without having to create an account. Files remain on the site's server for six hours before being automatically deleted. Once converted, all information imports into an Excel file, and any tables in the original document become fully editable and formatted. The conversion speed depends on the file's size and server speed; our practice document was ready to use within a minute.

Keep this site handy for a variety of situations. For example, many student worksheets available with textbooks are in PDF format. PDF files are the most common type of document available; use this conversion site to extract information and explore different scenarios using the original formulas. Free Wooclap accounts allow users two questions for up to 1,000 students; however, it is free for educators in K12 by following the directions found here. Download Zight for your device or use its Chrome extension to capture your screen, webcam, and microphone. Use annotation tools to highlight important information, and create GIFs or edit recordings with the available trimming and editing tools. When you're finished, Zight automatically creates a shareable link you can copy and send to others. Zight integrates with tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zendesk, Jira, and others. Create and customize interactive games and activities with Wordwall's easy-to-use tools. Choose from many options, including quizzes, matching games, drag-and-drop activities, and more. After creating an account, choose from shared activities, modify them to fit your needs, and then share them with your students as an assignment or link. Create a new activity by selecting a template and following the directions to add information and images if desired. At the time of this review, free plans offer access to 3 activities and 12 standard templates.

In the Classroom
Use the interactive games found at Wordwall to use at computer stations or home to practice skills or prepare for upcoming quizzes and tests. Use the embed code to add your games onto your class website for easy student access. Instead of asking students to memorize dates or events, help them by organizing the information into common features. For example, during a Civil War unit, group together events taking place in different cities to help provide context for students. Include a link to your quizzes on your class webpage or blog for students to practice at any time using the URL or embed code. Enhance technology use and learning by having students create their own Z-A quizzes to share with peers when studying for tests or use as an introduction with class presentations. Trace is a simple photo editing tool that instantly removes backgrounds and replaces them. After you create an account and upload your photo, Trace removes the background, leaving the image's main focus. Download the edited image as a PNG, or use the additional options to add a new color background, upload a new background image, use one of Trace's background images, or edit with the crop tool. When finished, download your image to your device.
In the Classroom
Bookmark this site for many classroom uses. Combine your downloaded image with others using a variety of tools, including Google Slides. Choose a background image of a city being studied, a different time, or a far-away setting like the moon, then place your student image on top. Resize the image to fit the scene. Include this image as a starter for class projects. Use images on top of book covers for book talks, create images for story characters and heroes, or use them for weather reports. The ideas for using this tool are only limited by your imagination and that of your students.
