Nelson Mandela on Kids Britannica offers three reading levels -- Kids, Students, and Scholars -- making it easy to differentiate instruction for a variety of learners. The Kids version (grades K-5) introduces Mandela's early life, political activism, imprisonment, presidency, and later years using age-appropriate language. The Student version (grades 6-8) provides more detailed information about his leadership in the African National Congress (ANC), his imprisonment, receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, and his presidency of South Africa. The Scholar version (grades 9 and up) explores Mandela's life in greater depth, including his anti-apartheid activism, underground activities, the Rivonia Trial, incarceration, presidency, retirement, and notable quotations. In the Classroom

In the Classroom
After learning about Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural style, have students design their own home using graph paper or a digital design tool such as Tinkercad, reviewed here. Show students images of Wright's buildings from the website and discuss their unique features. Then have them take a walk around the school or neighborhood and have students sketch or photograph buildings while identifying shapes, patterns, and design elements. Using simple materials such as index cards, cardboard, or LEGO bricks, challenge students to design and build a small structure. On July 4, 2026, the Declaration of Independence will mark its 250th anniversary. In partnership with C-SPAN Classroom, the Florida Joint Center for Citizenship features nine lessons that will allow students to learn America's story, the founding principles, and its continued quest for a "more perfect union." Lessons will allow students to analyze primary and secondary sources and review concepts such as contextualization, comparison, evaluation, and analysis. Monthly professional learning webinars for educators to gain a deeper understanding of the perspectives are also shared on the site. Finally, a General Pacing Guide and a Florida Pacing Guide are available.

In the Classroom
Have students complete a teacher-created crossword or word search using current vocabulary. After finishing, students can explain the meaning of 3-5 words they found and use them in original sentences. Set up rotating stations with different puzzles (crossword, quiz, matching).
