Parlay Genie uses artificial intelligence to create discussion prompts for any topic or URL. Parlay Genie, a feature of Parlay, reviewed here, generates higher-order thinking questions to develop and encourage deeper thinking among students through round table discussions. Begin by selecting to create a discussion either with your topic or with a URL, choose to make between one and three questions, add the URL or subject, and choose the grade level of your students beginning with 5th grade and going up to higher education. The final step is to generate your prompts with an option to regenerate questions if desired. Registration is not required to create discussion prompts using Parlay Genie; however, creating a free account includes options for sharing discussion questions with your students through the Parlay dashboard.

In the Classroom
Use Parlay Genie to quickly generate discussion questions for whole-class or groups for any topic. Easily differentiate questions for different groups of students by developing questions for different grade levels to match student abilities. If you are not sharing discussions through Parlay, use many digital resources to share questions and gather information from students. For example, engage students in the discussion activity by asking them to share a short response using Vevox, reviewed here. Use the students' responses to generate a word cloud in Vevox to highlight common responses. Then ask students to work in groups that explore the initial responses more in-depth to extend understanding. Have each group work on a collaborative document such as Google Docs or Microsoft Word. Google Labs Flow provides a sophisticated sandbox for experimenting with cinematic AI video and high-fidelity music creation. This experimental platform allows users to generate professional-quality video clips using simple text prompts, reference images, or keyframe visuals. The Flow Music component acts as a virtual AI producer, enabling the creation of custom songs and soundtracks through a conversational interface. Free accounts provide 100 initial credits and 50 daily credits to explore features such as text-to-video generation, object insertion or removal in scenes, and video extensions. Sign in to Google and select "new project" to begin creating with Flow. Type what you want to create in the message box and select either image or video after Flow generates your video or music. Continue using the messaging feature to refine your design. When complete, download the video or music or share using the included link.

Have students make a claim about a character's motivation or a theme in the story, provide text evidence as support, and then generate a meaningful question that deepens discussion. They can share and respond in small groups. Have students identify one idea from the text they connect to, one new idea that extends their thinking, and one question that challenges their understanding. This routine deepens comprehension and encourages perspective-taking. Ask students to write a short headline that captures the main idea or most important moment in a poem or chapter, then justify their headline with specific text evidence. These can be shared or posted as an exit ticket on Padlet, reviewed here or a Collaboration Board on Nearpod, reviewed here.

If you need a resource for Promethean Flipcharts, Quizzes, Countdown Timers, or Phonics videos you may find what you need at this "extras" site from Crickweb. Promethean Flipcharts are formatted in zip for easy downloading. Timers are for use on any PC or whiteboard and include countdown clocks in several formats such as a clock, timer, or "bomb." Some items require flash which is not available in all browsers.

Joystock is an excellent resource to bookmark for use in a variety of classroom projects. Share with students to use when creating podcasts, videos, or any multimedia project. Choose a calming tune to play as students enter your classroom or a more lively selection to get students inspired to begin their day. Use music from Joystock when creating videos with online tools such as Kapwing, reviewed here. For example, use the Travel Promo template found in Kapwing to create a short video tour of a location studied during geography class. Add music from Joystock to set the appropriate mood and create a professional-looking and sounding video. This collection of resources is designed to help you and your students cultivate the Habit of Mind of Metacognition, or "Thinking about Thinking." This crucial skill is all about "knowing your knowing"--the powerful practice of being aware of your own thoughts, strategies, feelings, and actions, and understanding how your thinking shapes your outcomes. This foundational habit helps students reflect on their learning processes, recognize their personal strengths and weaknesses, and monitor their understanding as they work through tasks like reading comprehension or problem-solving. In this collection, you'll find video tutorials explaining metacognitive strategies and self-monitoring techniques, interactive think-aloud activities that make thinking processes visible, reflection journals and self-assessment checklists for tracking learning progress, lesson plans, digital journals and self-assessment checklists for tracking learning progress, and comprehension monitoring tools like reading trackers and confusion cards. Rumie offers learning opportunities in "byte" size classes of six minutes or less. Search for lessons or explore content by categories that include topics of health, digital literacies, and more. Select any byte to begin learning; no registration is required. Next, scroll through and read the information provided; many topics include links to additional bytes that provide supporting or extension learning activities. Finally, choose the Save as PDF link to download the byte to your device as a PDF document. Other options with the free registration include the ability to create collections and save bytes as favorites.
