Customize and share personalized Wordles based upon the popular word game, Wordle, reviewed here using Make a Custom Wordle. Enter a word of any length (unlike the original word for five-letter words only) to generate a shareable link for your word. Make a Custom Wordle also offers the option to create words in several languages, including Spanish, French, Hindi, and German. Share the link with students using email, classroom management system, or class website. When complete, copy the URL to share by pasting it into an email or your blog or classroom website.

Use this Wordle generator in various ways in any classroom for increasing problem-solving and strategy skills. When using with young students, generate three or four-letter Wordles for students to attempt with partners. Provide a list of sight words if needed to avoid frustration. When teaching older students, develop Wordles to solve using vocabulary words, weekly spelling lists, science terms, or historical characters. Provide this site to students and create Wordles to share with their peers. Include a link on classroom computers during computer centers or as an activity when finished with daily assignments. After installation, personalize Certify'em within any form to create a certificate upon completion of a minimum score. Free accounts allow members to make their templates or choose from those shared on the site. Your Certify'em account also maintains a record of all exam attempts.

Certify'em is an excellent addition to every Google Forms members' toolbox. Create and share certificates with students for successful completion of quizzes and tests. Use Certify'em as a means for differentiating instruction by allowing students to take a pre-assessment test before starting a new unit. If they obtain a certificate, offer an alternative extended learning activity. This TeachersFirst Reading Trek, based upon the novel Currents authored by Jane Smolik, a historical novel about three girls who live in different places but are connected by a bottle that travels across the ocean. The Reading Trek provides a virtual field trip of resources using the Maps features of Google Maps. The Reading Trek includes a map link, KMZ file, and PDF guide for using the resources in the classroom. The list of ideas includes suggestions for working with maps based upon the novel and extension activities. In addition, find several additional resources suggested for further consideration. Activities are correlated to Common Core Standards, National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, National Core Arts Standards for Visual Arts, and Next Generation Science Standards.

Vizzlo is a free chart maker site offering a wide variety of options for sharing data in different formats. Get inspired by visiting the gallery to view examples of the layouts and means for sharing data. To begin creating, sign in to your account and select "Create." If you know the type of chart you want, use the keyword search to find it. Next, browse through the page to see examples, or use the filters to find options by use, type, and alphabetical list. The possibilities include well-known charts, including timeline creators and pie charts, along with less familiar varieties such as puzzle charts. Select a chart to begin creating by using the features found on the dashboard. Personalize data, colors, and the page setup. When complete, download as a PNG image, share a link by email or embed the code into a website. Free plans offer many features and access to a wide variety of charts; however, all charts created using a free plan will include Vizzlo's dominant watermark on the image.

Bookmark this site to share data through many different formats and representations. Collect data in your classroom and quickly create a graph to represent it, then choose another design to share the data in another way. Share your charts by adding links or uploading images to blogs, wikis, or websites--share graphs on an interactive whiteboard or projector for better data analysis by the class. Graph results of a test, answers from students, favorite foods, fictitious budgets, class schedules, and anything applicable in your classroom. Use an informational text, and have students create a pie chart to understand how to read charts accompanying the nonfiction texts. Have cooperative learning groups create graphs to share on the class wiki. Create quick pie charts on your interactive whiteboard whenever you count class votes or encounter other data so students "see" data visualized regularly; visual students will have another way to absorb the information. Prepare your students to use today's digital tools to solve tomorrow's problems. Join this session and learn to use forms and spreadsheets for basic data collection and analysis. You'll learn to use these tools to design authentic learning activities that provide support while facilitating deep learning. Return to the classroom prepared to help your students take on challenges and communicate their findings. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn the basic use of spreadsheets; 2. Explore authentic ways to include forms and/or spreadsheets in instruction; and 3. Plan for the use of forms and/or spreadsheets in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Create visually stunning graphics, presentations, flyers, and more without any graphic design experience using Desygner. Created for non-designers, Desygner uses drag and drop features and ready-made templates that make it easy for everyone to build and share content to use for many different needs. Create an account to begin designing using templates, upload a PDF document, or start from scratch. Select items from the dashboard to add and edit text, images, YouTube videos, and more features. When finished, share your project using the provided link, or download in JPEG, PNG, PDF, or MP4 format.

This tool is perfect for enhancing, modifying, or transforming classroom technology in the classroom, depending on the requirements of the assignments. Create invitations, flyers, or newsletters for your classroom. Share what you created on your website or blog for students to review or for absent students. Deliver blended or flipped lessons using Desygner by adding links to videos, assessment information, and other learning activities. In the younger grades, teachers would be the ones creating the project. However, older students could easily create their own Desygner presentations. Have students use this online tool as they would any presentation tool or image enhancing site. Use this site for research projects about famous people from the past and present. Have cooperative learning groups create presentations about science or math topics. Have students create presentations to "introduce" themselves to the class during the first week of school. Link or embed the introduction presentations on your class wiki or website and have others guess who they are. Use this tool with your 1:1 art class to practice design principles and techniques. Share student projects with parents and others via URL. Be sure to demonstrate how to use this tool on your interactive whiteboard or projector or create a series of video instructions. Use text, audio, and video to provide additional context to content area instruction for your students or use student-created videos as formative assessment. Learn with other educators and brainstorm ways you and your students can use Animoto in the classroom. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn basic use of Animoto; 2. Explore three different ways to use Animoto in the classroom; and 3. Plan for the use of Animoto in instruction. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

The advanced feature includes additional options, including search by language, type of materials, and rating. After selecting a resource, view pertinent information, including a short description, correlation to standards, and more. Next, choose the "view resource" link to access and download any relevant materials.

In the Classroom
Bookmark #GoOpenVA to use as your first stop in lesson planning. Take advantage of the search filters to narrow down the content and grade-level information to suit your needs. This website is also an excellent resource for finding materials to differentiate instruction. Use higher-level activities to challenge gifted students and search for content for remediation. As you gather resources into a collection, or lesson plans, be sure to think about ways to incorporate technology in meaningful ways to enhance and extend learning.
