The Creatify AI Shorts tool helps teachers and content creators generate engaging videos for educational content. Find the Shorts Tool by clicking the two-line menu bar on the right, then clicking Features. With AI-powered editing and customizable templates, creators can quickly make visual aids to explain concepts, introduce lessons, or make announcements more dynamic. The free features are 10 credits per month (or 2 videos), 1 seat, limited realistic avatars, limited AI tools, and exports with a watermark.

In the Classroom

Students could create a short video summarizing a book they've read; this engages them by encouraging creative expression and storytelling skills. Use Padlet, reviewed here for students to create and share videos. Have students view each other's videos, then discuss the variety of perspectives and styles, deepening their understanding of storytelling. Assign students a historical figure to research, then have them create a short "video diary" as that person during a key event. Students can create short videos explaining a science topic, like the water cycle or photosynthesis. In small groups, students create short videos demonstrating how to solve a math problem or explain a concept, like fractions or basic geometry.

NotebookLM is the handy study aid you never knew you needed. Add links to websites and videos, text, and documents to create study guides, timelines, an audio podcast, and an AI-generated video summarizing the information provided. Follow the prompts to add one or more items to your notebook. When ready, use the "Notebook Guide" to create study guides, FAQs, a table of contents, a timeline, or a briefing document. Once you create documents, you can select them to gather and develop additional resources, such as an outline, or ask NotebookLM to suggest related ideas. The audio summary option creates a two-person conversation in the form of a podcast to discuss the information, offering customization options that include the ability to focus the discussion on a specific topic or audience. The materials are shareable with a custom link, and you can share audio podcasts and videos with a separate link from the notebook link.

Use NotebookLM to support and engage students in many different ways. Upload lessons and documents to create and share study guides with students. Create and share an audio podcast at the start of a new unit to engage students in the upcoming lessons. Share the video with students to include when reviewing materials for upcoming assessments. Use NotebookLM to create a study guide, copy it, and paste it into a quiz tool that uses AI, such as Quizlet reviewed here to create flashcards and study materials for your students or Gibbly, reviewed here to create a quiz. Create a short tutorial using Free Online Screen Recorder, reviewed here on the features and how to use NotebookLM to share with parents for use at home to create study guides for classroom lessons.

Piktochart's AI-powered infographic generator creates infographics from your text within ten seconds. Registration isn't required to make up to two free downloads monthly. Describe your topic by entering text into the chat bar, then click to generate infographics. After your design appears, choose from several templates to change the style of your infographic. Registered members can change images, text, font, and more. When finished, share your design using the link, embed code, or as an image in PNG format.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (273), infographics (69), posters (44), presentations (31)

In the Classroom

Quickly create infographics as a schema activator or lesson introduction by typing in the topic of your lesson. Discuss the information shared on the infographic and ask students to share additional ideas that support their current understanding of the content. Share the infographic creator with students to include with multimedia presentations, book reports, or oral presentations. Students can create infographics about a classroom topic, relationships, definitions of significant terms, lab information, and more. If you use literature circles in your classroom, making an Infographic about a novel the group read would be a great conclusion for the lit circle project. It might also entice others in the class to read the novel. Post the infographics on your web page for all your students and parents to enjoy. To challenge your gifted students, have them research and create infographics depicting the challenging issues or "flipsides" related to your curriculum topic. Here are some suggestions: Major court cases and matters involving freedom of speech (during your Constitution unit), risks and benefits of nuclear power (in a physics class).

The Mind Map Generator quickly creates mindmaps from your prompt using artificial intelligence (AI) without requiring registration. Describe an idea or topic in the chat box, then click the arrow to continue. Information is produced in a flow chart that includes colored labels. The chart offers options to edit your mind map's style and content and look by clicking each card containing information. Additional features allow you to "ask AI" to add supplemental content such as maps and images. When finished, use the provided links to export your mind map to the web as a PNG file, generate a link for others to access and edit the information, and publish it as a web page.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (273), mind map (32)

In the Classroom

Although the interface for this mind map tool appears to be very simple, it offers many opportunities to create and share complex results. Begin by making simple mind maps such as themes found in novels your class reads or features of a state you study. After creating a mind map, ask this tool to build a visual story, for example, of the events leading up to the Civil War, then use the presentation feature to share and view with your students. As you become more familiar with the available features, modify the mind maps created to produce a personalized visual representation that fits your needs and includes links to additional information. Use the chat feature to make images and maps to supplement students' learning. Share mind maps you create as you begin a new unit as a helpful visual tool for students to understand the different components to recognize in your studies. Extend learning by developing a simple mind map of your topic and sharing it with students. Ask students to contribute information to the mind map that correlates to the information already included. Because this tool contains many features, it might be helpful to ask tech-savvy students to create video tutorials sharing how to use and modify the mind maps created. For example, make videos using the AI chat feature to produce images and maps or share a tutorial on adding links to portions of your mind map.
