To copy any of the templates, scroll through the page to learn about using Genially to create interactive choice boards until you reach the section called editable choice board templates. Select one of the offered templates, then choose the option to use the template. Some templates are only available for premium accounts; however, once you are in your Genially workspace, you can choose the templates link and search for choice boards to find many available options. After selecting an option, personalize the choice board by changing images, adding links, and making any necessary edits before publishing and sharing with students.

Share files hassle-free using Just Beam It! Drag your file into the designated space, share the URL link, and leave the WINDOW OPEN. You will get a message telling you the transfer completed. At this point, it is safe to close the window. If you prefer the traditional file search to find sharable documents, there is a spot to click for that method of file identification. Just Beam It! works by streaming the file directly from your computer to your recipient, and is not stored on the website. Just remember, files cannot exceed 2 GB and keep the window open until the transfer is complete. Beam happily!

In the Classroom
Using the Reading Trek, explore the periods of the 1930s and 1960s using maps and other non-fiction resources. Engage students and use an online organization tool like Padlet, reviewed here, to collect and share resources with students. Organize information within the Padlet using columns to sort content by decade. Be sure to allow comments to encourage student discussion and collaboration. Enhance learning by asking students to create infographics using Canva Infographic Maker, reviewed here. Use the infographics as an alternative to a book report and ask students to share important places, dates, and historical characters to tell the story of John Lewis.

Remember that feeling of pure fascination when you first saw a shooting star or finally understood how a complex puzzle fit together? That's exactly what the Habit of the Mind - Responding with Wonderment and Awe is all about! This often-overlooked habit is one of the most powerful that educators can nurture. In our rush to cover content and meet standards, it's easy to forget that curiosity and joy are actually cognitive tools, not just nice bonuses. Enjoy short book trailers similar to movie trailers on the Palm Beach Schools Vodcast page. These exciting book previews make choosing a new book easy! Scroll down the bar to the right of the main video screen to view options. Each book trailer is approximately one minute in length. They are just right to inspire interest without giving away the whole book.

Use this site to show a book trailer on your interactive whiteboard or projector before heading to the library for students to choose books. Create a link on classroom computers for students to view book trailers on their own. Use this site as a model and challenge students to create their own book trailers and share them using a tool such as SchoolTube, reviewed here.
