GPTZero is an AI detection platform designed to help educators, students, and schools identify AI-generated writing and support academic integrity. Users can paste text or upload documents to receive an analysis of whether content appears to be AI-generated. Additional features include plagiarism checking, writing reports, sentence-level analysis, and tools that help document the writing process. GPTZero offers a free plan that provides limited monthly scanning, making it accessible for occasional classroom use, while paid plans provide higher usage limits and advanced features. As with any AI detection tool, results should be used as one source of evidence rather than definitive proof, and educators should review findings carefully before making instructional or disciplinary decisions.

Bookmark and save this site when checking students' written assignments and as a resource for learning about AI-generated text with students. Ask students to include a copy of a response from GPTZero when submitting written assignments to demonstrate that the response is determined to be written by a human, not a chat tool. If your school or district doesn't have a policy regarding using AI generators, work with your students to create a classroom policy of proper use. For example, share how students can use AI generators to clarify information misunderstandings or learn more about a topic before beginning a writing project. Consider using a screen recorder like Free Online Screen Recorder, reviewed here to create a video sharing examples and ideas on using chat tools and verifying human-created work using GPTZero.

Purdue University offers STEM "degrees" for kindergarten through high school students which are available for completion individually or as a class. Select a grade level band from the eight options to access the ten videos required. After watching the short videos, complete the accompanying quiz to receive a code. Collect all ten codes and complete the form to request your certificate of completion. Videos cover various STEM topics, such as seasons, fossils, and the environment. The videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

Use this site to offer your students STEM "degrees" in several ways. As a class, complete an activity weekly as an introduction and review of science content by including the video as part of a computer center activity. Work together to complete the quiz for each video, then request a certificate to recognize your class's accomplishment. Another option is for students to work toward achieving certifications on their own. Share this site on your class newsletter for students to complete over the summer as an exciting way to engage in science activities and earn a STEM degree. One benefit of having the option to choose from different grade levels is the ability to differentiate learning by offering various courses to students based on their interests and abilities. Some students may choose to earn several degrees in different grade levels. Support and encourage students to pursue STEM degrees by taking pictures of completed degrees and adding them to your class website. Extend learning by asking students to research one of the topics, then share a presentation with peers using Canva Edu, reviewed here. Canva Edu offers many options for creating and personalizing presentations including slides, infographics, and flyers.

I'm Trying to Love Math is part of TeachersFirst Help! I Lost My Library/Media Specialist series reviewed here and provides book suggestions and activities to encourage interest in math. The background knowledge portion of the article shares some historical perspectives on the evolution of mathematics, beginning with a bone found in the Democratic Republic of Congo over 20,000 years ago. Next, scroll through the activities section to find math-related picture book suggestions and additional ideas for learning about mathematicians through biographies. The extension activity idea shares how to promote interest in math by creating brackets similar to those used with March Madness to determine the most influential mathematician of all time. Content on this site includes correlations to ISTE and AASL standards.

Bookmark this article to save as a resource for incorporating literature into math lessons and engaging students with learning about mathematicians by researching their lives and career paths. Encourage students to think about the many uses of math in their daily lives using FigJam, reviewed here. Create a Figjam slide and ask students to add a sticky note anytime they use math during the day. Extend this activity by adding a slide with columns and asking students to identify the type of math used during their day. For example, create columns that include geometry, measurement, data collection, and numbers. Use this information to create graphs and analyze students' different uses of math throughout the day. In addition to the Data Gif Maker, reviewed here suggested in the article, consider creating graphs and charts using LiveGap Charts, reviewed here to create charts representing data in many formats.

Comments

I believe that integration is a marvelous way to help students to better understand math concepts. I have employed the use of integrating Science in my Math classroom and it has enlightened the student's way of thinking. Not only are they able to associate math with shopping, time management and buildings but they see where it can be applied to another subject area. Roxanne, , Grades: 3 - 5

Podcasting has become one of the most powerful and accessible ways for students and teachers to create, share, and connect through voice and storytelling. This collection of free podcast creation tools gives educators and students everything they need to record, edit, and share original audio content without the barrier of cost. Whether a teacher is producing instructional content for students to listen to at home or students are launching their own podcast series to showcase research, share opinions, or retell stories, these tools provide an engaging and authentic avenue for creative expression and communication.

tag(s): podcasts (166)

In the Classroom

In the language arts (or English) classroom, students can produce a literary podcast in which they record book reviews, character analyses, or author spotlights, while social studies teachers can challenge students to create a "news broadcast from the past" in which they report historical events as if they were happening in real time. Science students can record explainer episodes breaking down complex concepts like the water cycle or photosynthesis, and math teachers can have students narrate their problem-solving process step by step, turning abstract thinking into an audible, shareable product. Podcasts also shine during passion projects and genius hour, where students choose a topic they care deeply about, conduct original research, and produce a multi-episode series that can be shared with the school community or a global audience.

Many lessons include worksheets in PDF format. Turn these activities into a digital format by taking a screenshot of the document, then save as the background on Google Slides, reviewed here. Add text boxes in the appropriate place on the slide for students to add responses. Use Pear Deck Flashcard Factory, reviewed here, to create flashcards for students to practice the vocabulary highlighted in each lesson.

Use the ideas shared in this article to create an interdisciplinary lesson to teach math, social studies, and writing objectives. For example, in this article, students work in groups to explore how many people in different states speak a language other than English at home. Take advantage of technology tools to engage and enhance this activity. For example, have students collect data using Microsoft Forms or Google Forms, then create and share charts and graphs using ChartGizmo, reviewed here. Use Google My Maps, reviewed here, to create an interactive map that includes all information created and shared by students.
