Clipdrop uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create images from your doodles and a short prompt. Add a simple drawing to the blank box and add a description of what your image should be in the prompt area. Choose the type of image style from several options, including photographic, origami, 3D model, and more. After providing the drawing and information, choose generate to choose from several options. Select individual images to download as PNG files, or use the Share Results link to save the grid with all the generated images to your device. Although registration isn't required, the number of generations is limited each day. Use your email to create a free account and receive unlimited image generation.

Anytime students use images, discuss the proper use of copyright. Currently, copyright laws do not apply to AI-generated images; include this in your discussion and consider why this might be true. Create images to use as starters for creative writing projects, to include in multimedia projects, or for students to use as avatars for blogs. Use images created with Clipdrop in digital storytelling projects, such as those created with Canva Edu, reviewed here or with Canva Comic Strip Templates, reviewed here. In art class, use one doodle to create images in different art styles and ask students to compare the different features of each style. Ask students to choose one art style to use in creating drawings by choosing from different options of media and supplies.

gotFeedback uses artificial intelligence (AI) features to provide clear and actionable feedback for student writing. After making your free account, describe the type of feedback requested, such as details, a clear thesis statement, or the use of specific claims to support information. Next, upload the writing to be analyzed or copy and paste the text into the designated area. After submitting your writing sample, gotFeedback provides you with feedback, including suggestions for improvement and a sample revision.

tag(s): artificial intelligence (316), assessment (143), feedback (14), writing (307)

In the Classroom

Use gotFeedback to provide quick assessments of students' writing and to focus on specific ways to improve their work. Use the Prompt Guide on gotFeedback to understand how to provide clear and actionable feedback to support students. If desired, share the revised writing example with students to use as a model for editing their work, or share the feedback and ask them to change based on that information. Use Google Docs or Microsoft Word for students to track and share writing revisions. For example, ask students to begin writing projects in Google Docs. After sharing their work, use gotFeedback to analyze the work based on your criteria, then share the feedback portion with the student. Ask the student to highlight areas that need improvement, then use that information as a starting point to revise the text below the original text. When finished, ask the student to write a short reflective piece on methods to improve his writing. Using this method allows you to view each writing process step as a reflective activity.

Quickly and easily generate and share timelines using the Turbo Timeline Generator. Begin by clicking the link to edit a timeline and change the informational text to add information to your timeline. Copy and paste data from a website or document or type information into the timeline generator. Add images by putting square brackets around key information as described in the instructions; Class Tools finds images based on your content. Timelines must contain ten or more items to use the save feature. When saving a timeline, provide a password when prompted to access your unique URL. Timelines are not kept on Class Tools, so save the URL in an easy-to-find location for use later and edit information if desired. Additional options available for sharing timelines include QR codes and embed codes.

Take advantage of this timeline creator to create and share timelines that engage students for many classroom uses and content. For example, create a timeline of events in a novel or historical event, use a timeline to show steps in a progression of events such as turning a bill into law, or create a timeline of class events throughout the school year to share during the end-of-year activities. Ask students to create a timeline using this generator and include a link in a multimedia presentation. Enhance learning by asking students to create a timeline of events as an alternative to a written presentation. Include the timeline link as part of an interactive presentation or image created with Genially, reviewed here. If necessary, ask a student to create a video tutorial of how to create and share a timeline using the Turbo Timeline Generator and share the tutorial on your class site for students to access as needed.

Use this resource to improve productivity by asking it to create quizzes, rubrics, lesson plans, and more. Because Claude includes the option to add files, increase productivity further by attaching a worksheet and asking it to modify the content to differentiate learning or to suggest ideas for presenting the content in a different format. Be sure to ask for information as precisely as possible by including grade-level information, the subject you teach, content standards and teaching objectives, and options for differentiating instruction. Math teachers can ask Claude to explain the content differently or ask for ideas on applying math topics to everyday life. In social studies or science, ask Claude to generate a vocabulary list or create a story based on your lessons incorporating essential vocabulary terms. ELA teachers might use Claude to get suggestions for interventions to support struggling readers or to find additional resources to support current lessons. Always verify any information provided by Claude before using it. Claude is an evolving tool, and many features change (or upgrade) regularly.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot that allows members to have conversations that answer questions and assist with many tasks. Create an account using your email address, Google, or Microsoft account. Use the "Send a Message" box at the bottom of the page to type a chat request and click send. ChatGPT provides a response based on your input. Use the option to regenerate the request if you want to see different answers, or use the chat box to type in clarifying information to improve the response. Always verify any information provided by ChatGPT before using it. This is an evolving tool, and many features change (or upgrade) on a regular basis.

Use ChatGPT to increase your productivity and as a resource for finding classroom resources. For example, use the chat to find activities accompanying your current book study. An example question might be, "What are some activities to add to our study of Charlotte's Web in third grade?" Use a clarifying question to select one of the provided activities and ask for free online resources that support the provided response. This example includes several clarifying questions that provide additional ideas for books and activities to accompany Charlotte's. Ask ChatGPT to differentiate activities for students who need extra support or for those that need enrichment activities. Another use for ChatGPT is to write Student of the Week paragraphs; ask ChatGPT to write a paragraph including the student's name and accomplishments and revise the section to fit your needs.

For example, engage students in retelling stories by asking them to create timelines that share the series of events or locations found within a novel. Ask students to create a timeline of the growth of plants or step-by-step procedures of a lab experiment. Extend learning by including student-created timelines as part of multimedia presentations shared by creating websites using Carrd, reviewed here, or video presentations made with Adobe Express Video Maker, reviewed here.

In the Classroom

Castbox is an excellent podcast-sharing option for simple podcasts or when sharing audio recordings that have already been edited, for example, using editing tools on your computer. Create regular or special podcasts to share on your class web page or wiki. Are you looking for even more ideas? Record class assignments or directions. Record story time or a reading excerpt for younger ones to listen to at a computer center AND from home, adding a touch of blended learning to your classroom! Have readers (perhaps older buddies) enhance their understanding and build fluency by recording selected passages for your non-readers. Launch a service project for your fifth or sixth-graders to record stories for the kindergarten to use in their reading and listening center. Challenge students to create "you are there" recordings as "eyewitnesses" to historical or current events. Make a weekly class podcast, with students taking turns writing and sharing the "Class News," encourage and extend learning, and have students create radio advertisements for concepts studied in class (Buy Dynamic DNA!). Invite students to write and record their own stories or poetry in dramatic readings. World language students or beginning readers could record their fluency by reading passages. Allow parents to hear their child's progress reading aloud, etc. Compare world language, speech articulation, or reading fluency at two points during the year. Challenge your Shakespeare students to record a soliloquy. Write and record a poem for Father's or Mother's Day (or other special events) and send the URL as a gift to that special person. If you have gifted students who lean toward the dramatic, this tool is simple enough for them to create dramatic mini-casts without needing any additional tools.

Bookmark and save this handy site for many different classroom uses. Engage students when introducing a new topic by creating a poll to assess learning quickly or find students' interest in a topic. Use a poll as an exit ticket or as a formative assessment. Enhance learning by adding a link to a poll as part of a blended or flipped learning activity. For example, when delivering a flipped learning lesson using Microsoft Forms, reviewed here, include a link to a poll that asks students to reflect upon their understanding of the content learned. Extend learning by sharing the Poll Maker with students and asking them to conduct polls to gather information when learning about graphing. After completing the polls, students create graphs to share the results using online graphing resources such as the Data Gif Maker, reviewed here, or PieColor, reviewed here.

Curipod creates interactive lessons using AI (artificial intelligence) technology. Tasks include features for making word clouds, adding polls, questions, and more. Create an account, then copy and edit a lesson using a template or build one in just a few seconds using your prompt and instructions. When creating a new lesson, start with a blank slide or use templates that include a brain break, exit ticket, multiple choice, or complete lesson. The brain break generators include several stress-free tasks, such as Would You Rather questions, and fun writing and drawing prompts. To create new tasks, add a topic and include standards if desired. Another option allows you to import PowerPoint presentations and PDFs when creating new activities. When ready, share lessons with students using the provided QR code or the join code for students to access at curi.live. View statistics in your dashboard, including the number of times played and player results. Free accounts currently include unlimited players, five private Curipods, a shared workspace, and all core features.

In the Classroom

Use Curipod as a starting point for creating lessons and student activities, then modify the content to fit your curriculum and students' abilities and needs. The Brain Break activities are an excellent starting point for using Curipod in your classroom. Select an activity from the Brain Break options, then choose a grade level and follow the prompts to share a short mental break with your students. Copy and paste standards when creating a lesson as a starting point to add content for the lesson. When using any AI technology, verify the information provided is accurate before sharing it with students. Use Curripod as a flipped or blended learning activity, share the join code with students, and ask them to complete the activities within a designated period before reviewing together as a class. Easily modify any template to differentiate instruction for different groups of students. For example, when introducing decimals, provide a basic introduction with vocabulary and instructional content to one group of students but add more challenging content, such as adding decimals for students already familiar with this topic. Coordinate with other teachers to create cross-curricular activities or when planning units together.
