ChatGPT makes its free, educational version available to United States teachers and school staff through June 2027. The educational version protects student data, meets FERPA requirements, and does not use the content to train ChatGPT models. It offers settings to remember details such as your grade level, curriculum, and preferred format, so responses feel tailored to your teaching style and classroom. Users can build presentations in ChatGPT with Canva and bring in lesson plans and files from Google Drive or Microsoft 365, so every chat starts with your classroom context. School and district leaders can create accounts that bring district and school staff into a single workspace with role-based controls. Create your account by completing the verification form with your school email, which verifies that you meet all requirements.

In the Classroom

Bookmark and save this handy site for many different classroom uses. Engage students when introducing a new topic by creating a poll to assess learning quickly or find students' interest in a subject. Use a poll as an exit ticket or as a formative assessment. Enhance learning by adding a link to a poll as part of a blended or flipped learning activity. For example, when delivering a flipped learning lesson using Microsoft Forms, reviewed here, include a link to a poll that asks students to reflect upon their understanding of the content learned.

In the Classroom

Use this presentation to introduce lessons on creating AI-generated images or lessons on digital citizenship, helping students understand how to distinguish between "real" and AI-created information. Use the prompts provided in the lesson to create images in other image creation tools like Ideogram, reviewed here and Free Online Image AI Image Generator reviewed here, then ask students to compare and contrast the images created with each tool. Use the shared prompts as a template for students as they learn how to design effective prompts to create AI images for use with creative writing projects, slide presentations, and other classroom projects.

In the Classroom

Quickly create infographics as a schema activator or lesson introduction by typing in the topic of your lesson. Discuss the information shared on the infographic and ask students to share additional ideas that support their current understanding of the content. Share the infographic creator with students to include with multimedia presentations, book reports, or oral presentations. Students can create infographics about a classroom topic, relationships, definitions of significant terms, lab information, and more. If you use literature circles in your classroom, making an Infographic about a novel the group read would be a great conclusion for the lit circle project. It might also entice others in the class to read the novel. Post the infographics on your web page for all your students and parents to enjoy. To challenge your gifted students, have them research and create infographics depicting the challenging issues or "flipsides" related to your curriculum topic. Here are some suggestions: Major court cases and matters involving freedom of speech (during your Constitution unit), risks and benefits of nuclear power (in a physics class).
